So Nas vs Tyler at the Grammy's next year right...unless somebody else big surprise drops?

Let's talk about it

More than likely.

I doubt Kendrick drops in time and Drake probably won’t submit after he trashed the Grammys last year.

Also I can see Kanye submitting again in the Contemporary Christian section because if he goes on to get an AOTY nom he can boast about bringing Christian Rap to prominence. It would feed his ego to be looked at as God’s “chosen” for music.

So that leaves Nas Vs Tyler. I haven’t listened to Tyler’s album and I won’t, but I can’t see a world where lyrically Tyler is fukking with Nas.

Also in Nas’s favor is that a LOT of times in the rap album category artists tend to repeat. Kanye won three times in a row. Eminem won three times in a row. Outkast won twice in a row as well as Kendrick has won twice in a row.

Nas also has more of a chance to be nominated in multiple categories this go around as well. Nobody should by all rights be a lock for a Best Rap Song nom. The pairing of Nas and a RAPPING Lauryn Hill should be too enticing for the Academy to pass up. There is also an outside chance that No Phony Love could receive a Best Melodic Rap Song nom. And i’m sure that Sorry Not Sorry will gain a Best Rap Performance nom.

There’s also an outside chance that EPMD 2 could garner a Best Rap Performance nom as the Grammy’s traditionally love ANYTHING with Eminem’s name on it so it would be up to Nas and his team to decide if they want to submit it. Personally I think Nobody is the stronger song to push individually but thats just me.

They love Tyler, the grammys, and I still its a great album although my only complaint is he's feeling the sound of his own voice on that album a little too much, but a beautifully constructed album also with great feature choices, same as KD2, although they might raise some eyebrows on first glance. But Drake ain't happening this year (honestly don't see wtf he's waiting on, not everything is gonna line up around you, like ANYONE else can tour and only you are the victim), and I fear Kendrick may do a Frank Ocean and not happen again.

It might be another one of those off kilter grammy years like last year where we get some dark horses in there. THIB will get some love although I get called a cac for not being so high on that only but I'll spin it again, and I still have to listen to Pray for Haiti.

Ill only disagree with Sorry Not Sorry. That one stinks IMO.

I gave that Tyler the Creator album a chance just because of the hype that it had here. I got to song 10 and it wasn't even trash, and I can see why a Tyler fan may like it, but I'll never play it again. Definitely wasn't good enough to convert me to a fan:yeshrug:

Barring a last minute drop on the 27th for Kanye or Drake, probably. Its gonna be a stacked list of nominees so I hope KD 2 gets mentioned but it also depends on which direction the Grammys go with albums. Some people complained about them nominating non commercial pure hip hop albums because "it wasnt a true reflection of the culture". Those albums fit its criteria of rapping over singing though. Im curious if they'll have a best melodic hip hop album catergory to put the Cudis, Pop Smokes, Lil Durk/Lil Baby album in. If not they might take up a lot of deserving nominations

Nas, Tyler and Cole should be nominated regardless. Im thinking Benny the Butcher for Burden of Proof, Big Sean for Detroit 2 and maybe Busta Rhymes as the next grammyless artist might get looks, but someoen's getting left out. Eminem probably not submitting MTBMB side B for Grammy nomination like Side A last year

Its gonna be tough but I hope they dont leave KD 2 out cause this deserves it even more than 1, and I would hope they include it so last year doesnt just look like a lifetime achievement.

Damn I'm actually jealous of these kids, i wanna relive the "moments" when i first listened to this album, see my face when Death Row East kicked in, the beat switches on Rare, how i almost fell to the floor when Nas snapped on Store Run, the goosebumps when Lauryn came in on Nobody.. Etc etc...

I was JUST thinking about this the other day while listening to “Moments” on one of them YouTube review vids :wow:

This fukking review just brought Nas Metacritic score down one point.

Even though it was mostly positive that 71% score is kinda shameful for this classic
Them cacs not trying give Nas his just do, he's too Black for them. That's why they give back hand compliments and shyt. They can't complain about the beats no more, they'll "complain" about the soulful shyt, because cacs can't relate. They'll nitpick for shyt they won't do for anyone else, fyck them :pacspit:

Yo yall check this out.

I created a version of the album where I got My Bible after No Phony Love, remove Brunch on Sundays (or keep as bonus track)... takes the last part of the album to a whooole nother level. The songs flow much better imo.

My Bible -> Count Me In -> Composure-> Nas Is Good :wow::banderas:

Yall try it out.

Bruh this album is so undeniable idgaf no more

This.

The sooner people realize that hipsters control the whole review scene, the less attention will be given to them. Nas doesn't make music that appeals to hipsters, so of course some of these reviews, even if positive aren't going to give him the kind of scores that a Kendrick Lamar will get. A veteran MC making a cohesive album with great production and lyrics isn't going to get into those scores of 90 or above. These types of critics want a concept driven album that is tea spoon fed to them over progressive or what's deemed progressive production with emo driven content.

Nas is doing just fine doing him. Even without pandering to critics, this album still sits in the high 80's.

Album has been in the deck non stop in the whip. Count Me In to Composure to My Bible is insane. Only track I’m not feeling and it’s not cuz of Nas’ rapping is No Phony Love. Charlie Wilson is a legend but his “oooweee” crooning kills the hook for me. At least after Nas raps on EPMD 2 I can skip to the next track and avoid Em’s verse. I still damn near wreck the car on that last beat switch in Rare…”We been on some gangsta shyt for a long time” God I needed that to be a whole song on that last beat.
