I can't see him doing a double album again (don't even remember the last double album we had in hip-hop). But one of the biggest hurdles with Nas doing that Premo album was always scheduling. I remember a couple years after the Scratch Magazine cover Premo was asked about it in an interview and he said he bumped i to Nas somewhere and Nas asked him if he did the album would he be able to tour it? I forget the response, but Premo was basically saying their schedules didn't usually mesh and that was a concern at the time for Nas. Doing an entire project like that and not being able to tour off of it.

Covid lockdowns would have deaded any of those fears, so I think if it ain't happen post-Covid, it probably ain't happening.

Not to mention, how many philosophical mythical albums has Premo failed to produce his damn self? His solo album/compilation was supposed to drop in like 2004 or some shyt.

:deadrose:

Nobody has even mentioned the DJ Premier vs. Pete Rock album, and them n*ggas actually did do a tour promoting it a few years ago. And not a single song ever came out of it, at least not that we know about. Plus the "real" NYGz album, the Year Round Records compilation album, and probably a few more I'm forgetting. Only one he actually did end up doing was the new Gang Starr album, which actually did have some minor Nas contribution to it with the promo "Aiiight, chill" remake skit.

I didn’t know that album even exists until you said it

Nas should do something with Bts just for the sheer idolisation they show him and also the fact they’re the biggest group in the world in one of the biggest emerging markets.
I bet he will. Which will also continue to expand the overall brand even more. Win win.

I feel you but son is doing deals with billionaires and sipping rare cognac in castles with the Hennessy family. Kd 2 is a snapshot of where he is in 2021…a king building his empire.

If he did do some raw, pissy staircase shyt, haters would say he’s a 47 year old multi millionaire who has dealings with Silicon Valley, he’s not in the streets anymore. Lol

A gutter street anthem is probably the last thing on his mind

This. Plus this is the same shyt we all complained about over Jim Jones during The LOX vs. Dipset Verzuz lol

That beat switch in Rare is too dope. It kinda reminds me of Amongst Kings or My Worst Enemy type vibe. That shyt is ill. And on the third switch hen Nas says “look inside my mind you’ll find a gold mind” feels like a call back to No Ideas Original where Nas say “if you look inside my mind you’ll find, where bodies are buried…”. I feel that signifys the different mind frame that Nas is showing now that is no longer held back by trauma. Maybe I’m overthinking

That's a dope take :ohhh: I noticed a few times on the album where he flipped an old line into something more positive and optimistic. Like on Moments, he says "third verse and I knew what to write."

There’s a LOT of throwback references to older Nas verses that are great little easter eggs for long time fans

Bout to make a mashup playlist of both KD albums of my favorite songs:wow:

Shouldn't be hard for me. Just have to remove the big Sean joint, and maybe spicy off kd1 and I can't think of a skippable on kd2. MAYBE brunch on Sundays. I couldn't vibe to it like y'all, and maybe it's bc I be brunching in bk on Saturdays only

Which verse do y'all think would be The Source's Hip-Hop Quoteable verse of the month? My choices would be either the first verse of Rare, 2nd verse of Store Run, Nas verse of Composure, or 2nd verse of My Bible.
