First negative article I’ve seen:

Nas ages a little too gracefully on ‘King’s Disease II’

“TECs in the dresser, money off tech, pushing a Tesla/Rolled up a fresh one, it's one IPO to the next one” is almost unbelievably depressing to hear, less because of Nas’s participation than because of the sentiments’ ubiquity.

Too many (white) critics in hip hop don’t understand it’s roots in housing projects and its bravado nature. They can get the fukk out of hear hating rhymes like that

here’s the clown:

That CAC is from Pitchfork contributors:rudy:.
He the one that reviewed Tyler's album.
The fukknas coalition at it again....

But its too late

The world has already embraced the masterpiece

holy fukk. ive never seen so many people care about how much an album sells before. do yall do this with every album? its exhausting. I could care less if this went diamond or sold 10k. The shyt is dope. period. As long as it reaches my ears is all that matters.

im genuinely curious. does how many streams or sales an album gets effect your enjoyment of said album? I mean Nas is prob my fav rapper ever and sure I guess I'd love for him to get a billion streams but as long as he keeps making music thats all that matters. Unless, you all think that if his numbers are low hes just gonna retire? im sorry im confused.

This the booth. They don’t care about Grammys or album sales until it concerns their favorite artists. Then it means everything.

There's a lot of BS to scroll through in that article with backhanded compliments and just overall confusing statements. There's several positive points made about Nas and the album, but it's buried beneath unnecessary garbage. Some of these writers don't know how to get to the point. As a reviewer, their only job is to convince the reader why they should check something out or stay away from it. They be out here going through an artist's biography, discography, and headlines before talking about the music they are supposed to be reviewing.

Nah it's a sign of the times. Artists have found different ways to make money and the cost of production is way cheaper without mass distribution. Alfredo did 20k and Freddie and Alchemist couldn't give a fukk less...

Most of Nas original fan base is :flabbynsick: or dead from natural causes. He sells due to sole quality and quality alone, and internet communities 30+ like us

It’s been a thing on here for years. I don’t remember people caring about sales back in the days of :hamster:

I’m not sure if it’s a new generation thing or people’s mindsets changing over the years but personally, I couldn’t give a shyt about album sales in terms of popularity. I want to see the artists I love make a good living tho. I’ll always buy physicals if I’m feeling the music. I’ll probably cop KD2. The last Nas album I bought was LIG tho :yeshrug:

He didn't really have a single out be fore the album dropped so that might hurt his numbers. I bought it like I did with the rest of his albums. I would have preordered it weeks ago if I could but I had to wait until it officially released.

People caring about sales is obviously for 'Stan wars'. I don't subscribe to being a stan of any other human being so I don't participate or ever talk about sales. But I will this one time for inquiring minds on why Nas doesn't sell more. Like everyone knows you have to stream well. And like everyone knows, Nas audience is more mature and not likely to be on streaming sites all day listening to music. They're more than likely working, cooking dinner, changing diapers etc lmao. So you obviously have to have the kids. This is why a Jay-Z/Bey album will only sell 125k first week and they're 2 of the biggest stars in human history(I'm well aware of the Tidal exclusive for the weekend). But more than that Nas don't have as many fans on these platforms. Let's take spotify for instance, Nas have 8.6 million monthly listeners while Billie Eilish has 53 million. Drake has over 50 million etc. That 77k for 'Nasir' was helped by Kanye 50+ million listeners. So of course these artists will sell crazy. Even being in comp with Eilish when you're at a 45 million listener disadvantage is crazy even if it's a 2nd week for her. It's roughly takes 2000 streams to equal 1 buy. So if yall care about sales so much what needs to happen is yall need to stop crying when Nas has songs like 'YKTV' and 'Spicy', yall need to support those type of songs. Because those songs will bring Nas a younger fanbase and more listeners.

Agree with this. I think the one thing KD1 & KD2 are lacking is the creative concept/storytelling songs that Nas usually has on his albums.

Think Get Down, Book Of Ryhyms, Fried Chicken, Rewind, Purple, etc. Those are what sets Nas albums apart, those tracks where he's just zoning out.

I think he can still make them, just needs to be motivated enough.
Yeah....
He's creating a new sub genre basically,
Adult contemporary rap.

I like it... But it makes be come to the realization that I'm getting older and can no longer live vicariously through grimy type rap lol

fukked up part is Pete had a more recent Nas placement than Premo and u don’t see Premo on that bullshyt. Now nikkas understand Nas keeps certain nikkas separate for a reason. As for Pete. He vibe wit Hit Boy more than he do wit u nikka. Get over it! U can’t even make amends with fukking CL Smooth. Talkin shyt.

What’s the story on this? :ohhh:
