I always felt personally that Nas used the Kanye album to get off of Def Jam and be fully under Mass Appeal. He owed them one more album and I always felt the six year delay between LIG and Nasir had more to do with Nas wanting to get shyt started with Mass Appeal moreso than anything.

Nas was saying he was done with Def Jam when LIG released and Def Jam had to issue a press statement saying they “Were very much still in the Nas business”. Then when Fashawn and RTJ were releasing material via Mass Appeal you could tell Nas was charged.

Interesting. Do we know how the album came about? I remember being stunned when Kanye posted that magic marker board pic and Nas' name was on it. Was it Kanye approaching Nas about an album, and then Nas said yes in part because it would be a good way to get off Def Jam...or did Nas/his team approach Kanye.

I hope they work together again when Kanye is in a better head space. Hell would be cool if Nas could bridge whatever divide/beef Hit Boy and Kanye have.

Definetly Kanye approached Nas. Which makes him rushing the project as an afterthought so dissapointing

This what I've always said. Nas would do it again in a heartbeat under the same circumstances.

Call DJ Premier, Pete Rock, Large Professor, Madlib, and Alchemist beats "nerd shyt" hip-hop brehs.

:dead:

you took it out of context. What i meant was that's all these bums ever mention as far as producers go. Some of these guys don't even produce like they used to and what you'll get is a stale "Wishing for the past" type of product. There's plenty of new guys that have fire and fit Nas's mold without compromising his efforts. Michael Jackson didn't work with Quincy forever, same as other GOATS that kept transcending through the decades. I love Premier and Pete Rock, but they ain't bringing nothing fresh for the 2020's. Some of yall just can't let it go and try some of these new heads out. Again, i've always said T-Minus would be a great fit for Nas, as well as Harry Fraud. Sh*t even Gunna's producer got fire that i can see Nas rap on and sound fresh. A lot of Gunna's joints are sample heavy and sound like a breath of fresh air updated production.

Y’all nikkas is bugging, I loved Nasir, shyt was a classic IMO. Loved the production and Nas was spitting fire on every track, the only average verse was Cop Shot The Kid, but that track is still dope.
