I think moreso Jay wanted to solidify himself as bigger than Pac and Big. He saw opportunity to seal that legacy by going after the "threats" and once again Nas found himself in the "alleged ring leader position" as he was Jay's #1 target. Jay didn't expect "Ether" though and ended up being humbled instead of taking the victory lap in what he thought was an easy win. All that was left for Jay was making people miss him like they miss Pac and Big. To accomplish that, he made The Black Album as his swan song and told us why he should be #1 on everyone's list. I felt like Jay was wasting his breath, because by that point Nas simply displayed why he should be #1 when he told a story backwards, made "One Mic", "What Goes Around" and "2nd Childhood", that crazy "Stillmatic Intro" and then bodied Jay with "Ether". Then came back with "Made You Look" and more brilliance on God's Son and Lost Tapes. This isn't even counting pre 2001.

It’s more about being in that conversation Nas PAC Big, solidifying his place amongst those names. In 96 Tupac was calling Nas the leader of the East, what words did he have to say for Jigga ‘fukk Jay-Z. He was insecure in his place amongst those 3 so he always attempted to put himself as the 4th guy. Why he has lyrics like ‘Argue all day who’s the best Jay z biggie or Nas’

‘Or how am I supposed to win when you got me fighting ghosts’

Alof of it was about being the accompany to Nas, the same way Pac is to Big.

These old dudes grumbling about beats really looking funny in the light. The reaction to this album has been incredibly positive, this is the shyt a lot of people wanted from Nas. Even the Hovavengers (Budden, Rory, Mal, Elliot Wilson) have heaped praise on this album; all them loved the first one too. Pete Rock and these other dudes sounding real old and corny right now. I’m not gonna expect a 50yo+ dude to like a trap beat but…you can’t appreciate the beat on Nobody?

Dream Hampton prob fukks with this album lmao. If you hating because it’s not “the essence” you look crazy.

Concrete, Concrete like Greg Street
Would be dope to hear MC Shan, Roxanne Shante, G Rap, Marley Marl, and BDK spit some cold verses in 2021, especially if Hit-Boy got the perfect beat formula for them to ride :wow:
Nah he need to leave these old nikkas like epmd and the ones u listed in the tape deck

Metacritic added Rap Reviews score (85) to Kings Disease 2’s aggregate. It hasn’t moved the score up or down he’s still sitting comfortably at 96 and tied with Kendrick as the most critically acclaimed rap album ever.

Kings Disease Part 1 had a total of 9 reviews and its looking like its going to be around the same with KD2 or maybe plus one. Once we get Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, and HipHopDX that would make 10.
The Sputnikmusic and SoulinSterio reviews are not on metacritic as well. (Both on 90rating). Im sure Hiphopdx will be at least 90 after the KDrating

Wherever nikkas need to be told on
Hey, while it might be too early to rank KD2 amongst Nas' discography, i believe it will be almost impossible for him to drop now something that can compete with the memories we have from Illmatic/IWW/Stillmatic/Lost Tapes. Those were genre defining moments in Hip-hop and it's not an easy thing to achieve again 30 years deep in your career.

But something I've noticed, while their highs cannot match the highs of his best work ever, aren't KD and especially KD2 among the albums with the less skip tracks in his whole career?

I mean, if i had to rank his albums from less skips to most, i'd have both KD's real high

Maybe Like :

Lost Tapes
Illmatic
IWW
KD2
Godson
KD
Stillmatic
Life is Good

And then the rest in no order, haven't thought about it that far, maybe
I AM
HHID
Untitled
Nastradamus
SD

counting off Nasir as it has only 7 tracks
Any albums where you aren’t skipping anything?
