Not only that but hit boy have the capacity to make nas' beats feels current and modern. As great as LIG is it was an old school production only and a lot of :flabbynsick: loved the album. Now with hit boy a lot of yougins can appreciate nas even the lonzo ball type of idiots

I love the diversity of having a LIG, KD2, KD1, Distant relatives, it was written , illmatic.

the Goat has a complete catalog

I'm gonna disagree with this take because the landscape of what current rap was in 2012 is not the same as it is now. Trap music hadn't taken over the mainstream completely yet, it was very current sounding for 2012, production-wise.

The reason why it got a :flabbynsick: reputation was because Nas didn't have enough new talent on the album, it wasn't all over blog sites and it had virtually no radio play, it's one "club banger" was trash too. If it had Drakes, Meek Mills and Weeknds on it then it wouldn't have been perceived that way.

I think the only record I would cut is Brunch on Sundays, doesn't feel necessary. Not a bad record either but I like YKTV and EPMD 2 which everyone seems say are the weaker ones

I like the theme and feel of the track. I think an underrated aspect of this album is Nas song writing skills particularly when it comes to hooks. I’m amazed he still has it.

I gotta disagree for the simple fact that when the album dropped we called it immediately grown man music. That's say it all. It wasn't the featuring but the production. Even nas said "for my nikkas trapped in the 90's". locomotive and nasty sounds respectively like nysom and halftime. Reach out was a straight overused loop by 90's rnb and rappers. It worked well because that style suits nas very well. But it was not sounding like anything else that was dominating the charts. But yeah that album was needed and a bol of fresh air. Totally influenced 4:44

shiiiit...people initially thought it was awkward for him to work with Hit at the beginning lol.

If i was him, I'd complete the classic trilogy. Fall back for a year or two, and mess with some new producers...experiment with different sounds.

He's clearly not doing this for the bread lol. Shock the world again with a different sound/producer.
He definitely needs to complete the trilogy with KD3.....and by that time, he will be about 50 years old....and if he decided to do another album....He should stick with Hit Boy, bc that's his GOAT Producer and Nas never been the greatest at meshing his style over beats, he trusted Kanye with it, and it was a disappointment. If it aint broke, don't even attempt to fix it

We need to have a serious conversation about where The Pressure stands amongst Nas’s greatest intro tracks.

This shyt bangs SO HARD and sets the album off SO RIGHT it’s ridiculous. Its gotta be up there in the realm with Stillmatic Intro and Get Down.

You can’t touch The Genesis , even though its not a “song” its an iconic introduction to the Hip Hop canon that is Illmatic.

I’d put it over Money Over Bullshyt, Not For Radio, and Kings Disease. The debate is does it get the nod over No Introduction & Queens Get The Money (and Doo Rags if you count Lost Tapes) to be in the same class with Stillmatic Intro and Get Down?

Nope everytime I'm going to brunch or cooking brunch im putting that song on. Many other people will do the same I'm sure. Each song on this album has served a purpose.

best hiphop album since Kendrick DAMN.

Death Row East not even really a song. It's like a Chapter outta Nas' autobiography :wow:

I don't know if you peeped it, but Nas narrared a podcast documentary series with BBC about Ali vs Frazier a little while back. It was dope as hell just on some historical shyt. But Nas's narration at the end of Deathrow East sounds exactly like what he did for BBC. It's fire the way they put that together.

Real ones still around release the confetti
