Here's my very personal take :

1. Illmatic & Lost Tapes
3. IWW
4. Stillmatic

5. God's Son
6. I Am
7. King's Disease
8. Life Is Good

8. Untitled
9. HHID
10. Lost Tapes 2
11. Nasir
12. Nastradamus
13. Streets Disciple

And tbh I don't really know where to rank Nastradamus. I probably like more tracks on there than on any other album of that 3rd tier. It's just that the bad tracks are really bad. But I rank it 12th like I could rank it 8th..
1. Stillmatic

4. God's Son
5. Life is Good
6. Street's Disciple
7. I Am

:salute:Honestly i always felt like that...but its not politically correct thing to say it tho lol..
It Was Written as a whole is so surreal to me, felt like a movie to me instead of collections of amazing songs(illmatic). Nas was at his peak on IT WAS WRITTEN, his cadence, flow, rhyme schemes was on a whole another level...96 Nas was the perfect emcee to ever rhymed on a wax :banderas:

I tried listening to the album again, and to keep it 100, it's a dud. Especially since there is so much good music being put out now. The last good album Nas put out is Life Is Good.
My GOAT is all the way up Mount Olympus and is completely now completely out of touch with HipHop. Very little growth in his music.

Nas verse off Triple Threat is one of his illest and most slept on

“Sex and money go together like techs and nine shells
Swiss cheese you and cover it up like Roswell
Cartel, you ain't seen no iller regime
The Celestine prophecy, project warrior, owns property
Crackers hate it, cops get jealous cause I stay with
The '98 temporary plates on my whip
The system think its not right
A rich thug could fukk a cop's wife
Cause I'm on television and live the pop life
I rock mics, make mills, sound scan sales
One point whateva records, professional skills
Money's the root of evil but it'll make you happy
Don't wanna shoot my people but still they might clap me
Cause I talk like Dr. Malachi york, played the sidewalk
Hold fort, diamond plate chain, gold fork
Get in tune, rich life Ricky for silver spoon
Frank Lopez's crib, elevators and living room”

So much in this verse. Ending is incredible
Dr. Malachi York was a spiritual leader whose teachings were heavy in NYC in the 80’s & 90’s
Nuwabian Moors. Prodigy,MF DOOM,Jaz-O,Black Thought & Pos from De La Soul were influenced by his teachings.

Diamond “Plate”
Gold “Fork”
Silver “Spoon”

get in tune(pitch fork) Silver Spoon was the name of show in the early 80’s about a rich kid Ricky. Carlton from Fresh Prince was his best friend.

Frank Lopez was the boss from Scarface who famously had the elevator in his Living room.

Yall crazy, lol.

After two weeks, my only complaints are the same as they were the first day...

This album is probably his most commercial sounding album (idk if that's actually even a bad thing to me now that I think about. There's a reason some of his die hard fans have some critical things to say but to the masses this album is straight fire! I think he made this for the masses, not for "us" necessarily, not this time. Probably the "secret" one is for us specifically, that more creative content, more gritty sound).

And he seems so "safe" now, not just musically but even in his interviews, he is a polished 47 year old veteran and an established business man at this point, he doesn't have that "rebel to America", aggressive lion type of approach that he used to have, like he would never name an album "N!gger" again, lol, he is a totally different human now it seems like...and it shows in the music.

Outside of them things, this album is fire. I only, sometimes, skip the 10 points jawn and the Firm jawn...everything else is at least a B, imo.
