Why yall care bout critics in this climate is beyond me :dwillhuh:

cats like us on Coli don’t really care about the reviews because we form our own beliefs from hearing the music but the average person still checks reviews, that’s why reaction videos and review channels on YouTube etc are so big. So when the average person or a young cat who hasn’t really checked for Nas sees a review that says all that nonsensical shyt he will think what they think.

Exactly.
It creates a narrative and sometimes false narratives snowball out of control. Nas is a misogynist is the new Nas picks wack beats.

hopefully people can stop taking and using these ratings as a measure of what albums are good and bad:unimpressed:

but knowing how nikkas act, they will say "fukk these critics" but will jump back on their side when a album they liked is reviewed positively so :unimpressed:

Damn, so people no longer can think for themselves. So a person that hasn’t checked for Nas opinion is so value that this article is causing Nas fans to be worried that a person who hasn’t checked for Nas might read it and believe it? Y’all really need to place y’all energy on more positive things. Instead of an article that barley has likes.

It is snowballing out of control on here bc y’all the ones give it value. So all the women praising the album this one article will cause Nas to be labeled a misogynist? Tell me where else is this article being discussed with such concern besides in here? If anyone reads this article and comes to that conclusion about Nas then guess what they are the dummies.

:what: you don’t see the average person who doesn’t think for themselves? A majority of the general public just follows along, doesn’t look into anything themselves, watches the movies that are popular, listens to the popular music etc. That’s what I’m talking about.

fukk Pitchfork, fukk Rolling Stone

don't care what they have to say

they're gonna look stupid in the future anyways.... Nas is a legend already, his legacy will only grow, people will go back and listen and he will win in the end

all this push in diversity in movies and TV will eventually spill over to criticism, and they'll have to apologize and re-review his work

they're nitpicking adlibs, and the only lines they can actually understand, while failing to realize that no other rapper has gone this far, no other rapper over 45 would even come close to sounding this good over modern production

a successful black man is preaching about King's Disease, he's warning future successful black men about the dangers of success from his own experience and they're nitpicking over lines that are over their head... and they don't even note how ridiculous his flow is, still in 2020

this metoo shyt was good for exposing serial rapists and predators, but it's gone too far when they're destroying the GOAT in a genre over 1:1 allegations without evidence

and I know there used to be (or is) a thread on this, but the lack of black hip-hop critics in major media outlets is just sad.... that's some shyt that desperately needs to get exposed

All I see is people giving this way more attention on here than on the platform it was originally posted. So you right maybe the people on here aren’t capable of thinking for themselves to the point this article is causing them to worry that others might be affected by it like some on here are. By the way the general public hasn’t given this article no traction but obviously you and others on here are giving all the traction it needs.

I agree with this in general

it's funny, I'm old enough to remember life before the internet and remember people saying the internet was going to open minds... it sure seems to be the opposite in just about all aspects of in life (EDIT: social justice awareness aside)

what's crazy is you would think younger generations would know more about the past with more access to it, but again, seems like the opposite

you would think that the wealth of information would make it easier to step back and learn more about history but there’s so much now, a lot of people don’t get passed what’s right in front of them to start digging for themselves. People always use the “I don’t have time” excuse but spend hours everyday playing candy crush or whatever the new game is these days. Or fukking around on Tik Tok etc.
