These are the 13 tracks of the I Am bootleg

Belly Button Window (Fetus)
Small World
Money's My bytch
Project Windows
Poppa Was A Playa
Dr. Knockboots
Daydreaming/Stay Schemin'
Sometimes I Wonder
Hardest Thing To Do Is Stay Alive
Drunk By Myself
Wanna Play Rough
Blaze a 50
We Will Survive

That's a list someone cooked up online, mad years later.

That's not what the OG was when it leaked early '99. The OG leak only had 11 tracks on it.

People generally hated on this album at the time. To me it sounds just fine now, but at the time standards were very high in hip-hop.
This is false. This album was bumped everywhere when it dropped. It actually got no hate. You couldn’t get away from Nas is Like , Hate me Now, Yo won’t see me tonight. Hell even Dr Knockboot got love back then

LOL!! Dude, that's a bootleg mixtape someone made with files. That's not the album advance.

It literally says "already released" on it.

I was in HS...these are the tracks that were floating around back then

These are the same tracks on the re-released vinyl from last yr too

Ask yourself why these exact tracks were on the rereleased vinyl

All of that was homemade, not the OG.

The OG advance which got bootlegged, and had the "Broscoe" vocal tags on it, didn't have a lot of those tracks listed there. Some of those songs weren't even done yet, when the OG was on the street. But as time went on, people online started making up their own versions of the album and did artwork for it, that didn't even exist back then.

I had the advance because I worked at Sony.

The reason why sh*t became an issue, is because the "Broscoe" bootleg was the exact same as our advance. It had all the same tags and tracks. So somebody at the label got their copy ripped somewhere. Because this was the first album that got bootlegged on mp3, later on, mad random people started making their own versions. But there was only one true OG, and if someone doesn't know about the "Broscoe" version, then they didn't have the real OG copy. That was the real one. Not the ones that came later.

The advance didn't get bootlegged, individual tracks got bootlegged

Bootlegs were a compilation

I clearly remember listening to I Am bootleg in 99 before the album dropped

Advances back in the day would usually be 1/2 the album, bro. Not the whole album.

That's how it worked. This is not a promo. It's an advance. You send the advances out for review and for testing. The advance for this, was the one that got bootlegged early on. And was the reason why the album ended up not being the double LP that Nas wanted it to be.

It doesn't.

The vinyl that's out now has mad other sh*t on it, that was recorded after the OG. Like "Undying Love", "Ghetto Prisoners", "Kissing", the joint with X, "Natures Shine", etc. Nas went back in to record new sh*t because a lot of the OG songs were being cut off the album due to the bootlegging.
