Like, how can you kill your entire people, family friends etc and still be seen as good? Itachi being "good" makes zero sense

That boy was given the task as a mission.

It was either take the mission and avoid war and the possibly the destruction of The Leaf, or, don't take the mission and see war unfold inevitably between his own clan and the village he held dear. There was no simple solution to the Uchiha Clan situation breh.

You shut your blasphemous mouth now. That's what it meant to be a ninja and he had a mission to accomplish. He had no attachment to his clan like everyone else only to Sasuke and Konoha. The Uchihas were planning a coup so he had to kill them all in order to prevent an all out war in Konoha. By doing that he became an outcast and deep cover rogue ninja while trying to get intel on the real threat which was Akatsuki. It was fukked up but if you watch his Arc coming up in the Anbu and taking on that mission at 16 asking to kill of his whole clan and become a criminal for the rest of his life for the good of the village.... He took on way too much way too young.

The anime right now is in uncharted water brand new stuff period
So it's showing kakashi as hokage and we don't know if they will show stuff in between time gap also that happened in naruto the last and boruto

So in some sense could it be consider filler

In the winter they are doing 2 or 3 can't remember the number but they are light novels too


Manga wise his assistant is doing boruto right now monthly
It's recapping the boruto movie probably Jan is when it's new stuff starting after the movie

It was already scientifically proven by the 2nd that Uchihas are emotional psychopaths and a whole village full of them in full on war mode would have left Konoha burned to the ground. Itachi tried to reason with them and convince his father in so many ways not to go to war but they wouldn't back down. Itachi only really cared about Sasuke which is why he killed all of his clan and left him alive. He knew what he did was unforgiveable in Sasuke's eyes which is why he wanted Sasuke to become strong and more powerful than him and ultimately kill him (Sasuke's lucky Itachi was sick and didnt want to really kill him. He would have wiped the floor with Sasuke) and not find out about his mission.
He even took the rap for murdering his best friend Shisui after Danzo was gonna slaughter them all (Sasuke included) after he took his eye.


His Arc is even named "Itachi: The True Legend."

I think Itachi cared more about Sasuke than anyone else, had the Uchiha attacked Konoha the battle would've ended with the winner being severely weakened and vulnerable to outside villages which the Leaf as whole didn't have much of good relationship with. The coup would have probably been the end of the Uchiha and Leaf Village as a whole.

Like @Monoblock said above, Itachi was just a kid with the weight of the world on his shoulders and playing politics with much more experienced and manipulative adults.

The Uchiha and Konoha backstory is one of Kishi's shining storytelling moments, it makes me wish he kept it up throughout the entire manga's run.

Yeah, for the forseeable future. The Naruto story ended after the fight but they gotta make their money. I don't blame them.
