Whole clan? Did you miss the part about where Madara is the only Uchiha who refused peace offerings. I wouldnt say Itachi was the most leveled headed Uchiha....just a character with the toughest dilemma in the manga. If we want to use that cop out, fine, call Madara bi-polar but what's Hashirama's excuse? What he's doing is the equivalent to GWB capturing Bin Laden and putting him on his cabinet after a "lol srrys"... "its okay bro, shawarma later?" Madar and Hash's friendish is even more contrived and children than Naruto and Sasuke's

Tobirama's one of the most reasonable, realistic characters in this managa on some "Wtf you doing kill this nikka:rational:" Somebody must be ghost writing him.
