My last point is that it's true that most tennis players are mental headcases to various degrees. Everyone who plays remotely competitively has serious issues whether its latent or apparent. These kids look at their parents or coaches for approval or sympathy after every good or bad shot. Its intense, lonely and taxing.

It is only one other poster here in this entire community.

Who knows of the pressures of being alone on a tennis court.

So all the demonstrative talk. From people inexperienced. Thus ill-equiped to speak in mass population.
Is only because only one of those two posters. Allowed you the luxury at your leisure to speak.
In other words.

If you ain't never even sniffed pro challenger.
Stfu.

I think its overdue that the ATP and WTA tours just go ahead and allow coaching. They are testing it out on different levels. I know the traditionalists may not like it and I was adverse to the idea for a while as well but players spend so much time with their coaches and rely on them just to be without them when the stress is maxed out. I think it would help mental and physical performance of players and is a worthy change.

You guys are bringing up Serena and her being more mentally tough. That used to be the case years ago and in her prime but since she got with that cac she has been more sensative also.

Honestly neither of them are with men who you could say probably calm then down and make them not fold under pressure

Her skillful and athletic dominance aided the mental toughness. Shes still mentally tough but it's hard to maintain the same confidence when the performance starts to erode.

It's a little different with Naomi because she got a lot of flak for trying to promote social change and also fired her coach. It didnt coincide with aging out of her prime

That's on the parenting :francis:

U sacrifice your child for wealth:francis:

No way a child should be brought up in extreme competition and also in international media:francis:

I would not have my kids in shyt like that or in tv/film etc.

fukking your child up with an extreme distorted reality and no way to have a paced educational, social, behavioral upbringing

I feel bad for her

Her mother was very tough on her and Naomi probably has shouldered even more of the pressure now that her sister is no longer competing at all too.

Theres way more going on here than simply "Gen Z"ers soft"...[although there probably is some credence to that line of thought generally speaking]

Cool, another chance for random anonymous brehs gonna act like they’re sports psychologists and criticize someone whose more successful than they’ll ever be :obama:
But You’re not anonymous anymore though, Liam. Neither is your younger brother and the cac chat groups that he’s in.
:jbhmm:

“7:00 p.m. and 12:30 a.m. (PST), June 25-26, 2017, in a private group Snapchat (much like the symposiums of Ancient Greece) between my brother, his friends, and myself. “

Owen, I’m just going to sack up and say it because nobody else will, why don’t you just leave the chat.” To which my brother mockingly responded: “Waaah, Owen just leave the chat so we can say the n-word.”

She grew up in Japan, a different culture. Americans' sports culture is knives sharpening knives. I understand why she is constantly breaking down.

Cats are judging her even though most of you have never competed at anything at a high level.

She needs to take a break and not return until she gets good counselling or maybe change careers.

It reminds me of a YouTube video I was watching involving a retro handheld console. The video was in Japanese yet the comments were level headed and fair. Meanwhile this one American asshead just fukked up the entire vibe with "THIS LOOKS TERRIBLE, BRING ON STEAM DECK".

Like :beli:why folks in this country got to be the most aggressive about common shyt:unimpressed:

Lets keep it a buck. Dude looks, sounds, and embodies funny style. Most of it is hate because Osaka:noah:, while for some parts dude is a lyrical cornball with some jackpot p*ssy:whew:

To me, its that he may have pushed for her to leave her comfort zone mentally and try to go beyond the sport with her impact but that's also me recklessly speculating. The timing correlates though

She was technically on that tip before Cordae though. In her early winning days, she always appreciate her black side and let it be known to ignorant reporters. Like a poster said, once she beat Serena, it was like a shadow over her focus. Like how can she continue to push for victory when the pressure of that moment keeps her below the lap?

I think she's playing it up.

Consider that she was absolutely crushed yesterday. If she had merely failed like any other athlete, it would have reflected poorly on her. Therefore, she flips the script.

It's a playbook she's used before. By calling out the heckler and addressing the audience, the story changes from "world class player falls short yet again" to "world class player, through no fault of her own, is sabotaged by the fans/the press/the tournament/her own mental health struggles (pick one)." What's better, she implicitly establishes herself as the true heir to the Williams sister and their legacy in the process.

So, in short, she failed at tennis, but succeeded wildly at changing the narrative, manipulating the media, and protecting the brand. It's very clever.
