i always thought 'the rbx files' by rbx was very underrated. the first couple of cuts on the album got decent plays, but later cuts like "moms are cryin" and "akebulan" were really dope (imo) and shoulda got heard more

i found 'the rbx files' in a used record store in like 2002 and it blew me away. its not 10/10 but X just has that father time kind of voice where even if rap didnt work out, he shoulda had a second wind doing movie voiceovers or audiobooks or even voicing video game characters or something! dude is like the thurl ravenscroft (youre a mean one mr grinch) of rap. incredibly dope voice i've always appreciated.

greg royal did a fantastic job on there. im sure he had more producers but i havent had a physical copy of the cd since 06!

i was never really impressed with anything he put out after.. (although he was one of the few highlights of the MMLP) of course if you have any tracks to change my mind i would appreciate if you linked them!

It loses focus.

Then rebounds with battle cst level magnum opus.

This and doggy all stars are so right on the cusp of being classics. Yet i csn see them labeled as personal classics before a general consensus.

Probably the best run of material from snoop in this era.

Till snoop lost it all and went and souled't out.
past the point of no return to maga.
i thought coming after no limit top dogg it (the last meal) was basically garbage

i have a theory on snoop, i do not know if you will agree. but i think snoop makes his best music under pressure. for the chronic, snoop needed to impress the hell out of dre (and he did) - for doggystyle he not only had to prove himself as a newer emcee, he was also fighting that murder charge while working. dude was rapping like he was fighting that charge on tape! of course after doggystyle he was found not guilty and all the stress melted away. but then he got comfortable. the doggfather was a disappointment. da game was a little better, but for me he didnt really improve until no limit topp dogg which honestly might be his last good album. i've liked a handful of snoop dogg singles since no limit topp dogg but thats the last full album i actually wanted to put on.

i think snoop just got comfortable. he didnt feel the need to challenge himself so he just put out bullshyt records. i understand being comfortable, but you wont put out good art.

I may still have the copy I bought in 95  but I'll be damned if I can find it around here.

I did like No Mercy, No Remorse from 99 pretty well but probably should revisit it before really committing to that.

Thia level of complacency is why snoop admitted
to being a ghost written artist a long time ago tho.

low skill on the mic debut of dj quik are given a pass for in the marketplace.
damn thats kinda harsh! i never considered quik a top emcee but he didnt need to be... hes a musician! ofc he has to keep us entertained, but i thought he did a great job. especially dollars and sense. that one particular line to eiht was just... lmao. come on man, quik is cool lol

though i guess the same song gets waffles for that line about quik pissing on him :dame:

Dj quik is literally the producer wack on the mic pass given exception by the general public.
