They had a chance to create a multi movie franchise with Pacific Rim and completely fukked it up. Compared with the original, Pacific Rim 2 was a fukking travesty.

I agree. Saw 2 dove into the gore/torture that the later films went off the rails with, but still served as a strong follow-up to the original.

The Hangover for me. 1st one was a classic. After that they kept trying too hard and they weren't funny at all. The sequels were a chore to get through.

A lot of other sequels might not be as good as the original, but are at least entertaining. Usually the 1st sequel is pretty decent, but then falls off a cliff after that.

It's annoying how a movie is good, and then the sequels make the hero into some super soldier. Similar thing with Die Hard.

True but a bad sequel could keep people from watching the original. For example: If I saw Kick-Ass 2 first I wouldn't have watched Kick-Ass 1 no matter how many people were saying it was a classic.

Yep, clear cut example. Home Alone is still a classic, despite the sequels being trash, especially the ones without Culkin.

I wouldn't say it was trash. just a carbon copy clone of the original. the first one was a new hope, second was the force awakens.

Sequels often copy a lot from the original. But the good ones try to switch it up a little bit. Terminator 2 made the T-800 a good guy this time, Back to Future 2 went into the future instead of the past.
Home Alone 2, he was just alone again setting booby traps for the same bandits as the last movie. Ok this time he's in a hotel instead of house. but thats it
