He was clearly trying to make one last attempt to build around Melo so he traded for Rose and signed Noah. The shyt obviously wasn't working so he's been in the process of cutting bait. He wanted to fully emphasis the triangle and was trying to make moves this off-season to do so. He should of went this route from jump but it's NY. If his first move when he got hired was to get rid of Melo yall think the city would of let him do that?
Of course... Half of NY been wanted Melo to be traded. The problem with your thinking is that he hired Hornacek to be the head coach...not Kurt Rambis.

Being that I'm very aware of the world we live in, I gotta view a potential Masai hiring with a side eye. A black man following the leagues all time winningest coach, who now has a tarnished legacy?
The execs around the league will ensure that he fails. They will jump right "on code" despite not having a lot of love for PJax. They won't play ball with him and will try to rape him on trades. Agents will try to rape him in free agency. The NY media will paint him as incompetent. I highly doubt "they" will allow a black face to be a savior of the Knicks on the heels of the colossal failure of one of their favorites.
I'm not saying this is a fact, it's just my opinion. But my opinion is based on facts I observe daily :sas2:
You realize Masai Ujiri has been around a while right?

I understand where you're coming from but I don't know if it's that deep.

These owners see green. I DO ADMIT that, with these athletes, they see cattle.

The media hated Phil and Masai is much more well liked around the league then Phil.

If anything Masais reputation is larger then his accomplishments

He's built a playoff treadmill team yet is treated like hes Jerry West.

Donnie Walsh>>>Phil Jackson.

Depends on if you think Dolan forced Walsh to do the Denver deal as constructed or not imo. Not getting D'antoni a decent PG, the Houston trade, no insurance on the Amare deal and then getting milked for even Mozgov all combine for me to put him a notch below Phil. But I fully admit it's debatable which is sad no matter who we pick. It means they both did pretty badly.

Lol, when Donnie became Knicks president of basketball operations we were in cap hell and even more dysfunctional than we are now between Isiah Thomas sexual assault case, brawl against Denver, Stephon Marbury DNP's, etc. Because of Donnie we were able to clear enough cap space to potentially sign multiple max free agents in 2010, obviously we were only able to get Stoudemire. I think Felton was a decent PG for D'Antoni. Donnie really paved the way for our 54 win season.

Phil drafted KP and signed Courtney Lee, that's all. :skip:

He got raped in the Felton/Chandler deals, he got raped in the J.R./Iman deals, he signed Joakim Noah to arguably the worst contract in the league, he has filled this team with international players and four year college players because as we know he has an inherent bias against the prep-to-pro/one and done system and believes Europeans are more "skilled" in short dude is kind of a racist, there are several players on this team that really aren't NBA material, he has imposed an archaic offensive system on the team, he refused to address our defensive inefficiency as our season went right down the drain after X-Mas, he has Kurt Rambis a coach who hasn't had success anywhere as a vocal leader and defensive coach, we fired Derek Fisher too soon just to sign Hornacek who is honestly a stop gap coach, he has Charley Rosen as his puppet in the media, he has clashed with our two star players. The guy was awful.

Donnie left the team with no youth, future picks dealt and no cap space. The 54 win team was only possible because of the one time amnesty. If you give Phil the same amnesty provision to use on Noah; the Knicks are in incredible shape. Even now, they have young core, cap space and all of their picks. Donnie didn't leave them with any of the three. If Donnie paved the way for that one season making it out of the first round; Phil has left everything in place to build a long term playoff team assuming Dolan hires anyone that's even half-competent. But to reiterate, they both did pretty lousy jobs in my book and there's not a huge gap...both guys inherited absolute garbage and both could have done things better.

This.

I hear stories that Nazis believed in recycling, protecting the environment and organic fruit... that still doesn't mean they weren't fukked up.

Phil definitely provided solid draft picks and future space.

Doesn't mean that everything else about him from the archaic triangle to further destroying our reputation around the league didn't make him a piece of shyt.

I will never ignore the positives he provided.
