Me too.Fully expecting worst case scenario
Weird shot release, not incredibly athletic, no in between game, can't create much seperation off of the dribble outside of stepbacks, wants to go left because he's not that comfortable going right. Of course he has great vision, size, and instincts, but his strengths don't totally mitigate his weaknesses to me.How come?
I spoke on his jumper in another thread its weird but it falls, and that's all that matters.Weird shot release, not incredibly athletic, no in between game, can't create much seperation off of the dribble outside of stepbacks, wants to go left because he's not that comfortable going right. If we got 2 and Fultz was already chosen, and the lakers have 5...
I'd try to fleece a young prospect from them to swap picks so they get Ball and we might still get Fox or someone else.
I remember presenting a scenario like that before. What do you think, breh?

-great rotation
-quick release
-NBA+ range
-on the catch and shoot, he catches on the hop with rhythm and is good at locating his feet and line
-has arguably the best step back in the draft
-he shot 42% 3PT in the NCAA and shot well against closeouts
-shot well off sprint going right on catch and shoots
-he punished teams that went under on P&R, even it it wasn't a staple of UCLA's offense
-has been working on midrange since NCAA tournament and will continue working on it in the summer, he's a high work ethic player who loves to hoop
Also, I think you're underrating his athletic ability. He is fast with long strides, he catches lobs, he can go coast to coast and dunk the ball, he has a 6'9 wingspan, wiry strong, quick twitch and explosive. He may not be as athletic as Fultz but he plays a lot more athletic than him, Fultz prefers the D'Angelo/Harden methodical game and relies on pull up J's a lot. Fox and DSJ (already had a torn ACL) are faster, better leapers but are smaller.
Sure, he has his weaknesses in the half court as a scorer. But, he'll be an impact player out the gate and a transition nightmare. His court vision and I.Q. is on par with Ben Simmons coming out LSU. In the NBA defensively when he hits his prime he should be a steals champion and an impactful team defender. He has potential to be a triple double guy and I know he'll get KP the ball and have shooters, cutters, and anyone willing to run eating.
Manu Ginobili is a guy who managed to have a HoF NBA career and mechanically his shot is not ideal off the P&R, yet he was an elite P&R player based off his ability to slice defenses and pass the rock.
If anyone could do it it's pop, just imagine Melo on that squadHe would have to completely change his game because Pop is not going to tolerate someone that wants to hold the ball.
Pop might be able to get it done though, he has enough prestige to force Melo to change. Even more than Phil Jackson these days IMO.
Doubt it isn't a pg pretty much their first choice. No one knows how these guys will pan out. Especially with how ny changes coachesImagine we get the first pick and still draft Frank Ntilikina
That's how I expect we draft so I expect to be disappointed.
Someone hook me up with those Phil smilies.
