Fully expecting worst case scenario
Me too.

It's the Knicks, after all.

W/ us, I expect the worst possible position, regardless of the slim chances.

I expect 2 dedicated threads with some variation of "Knicks Lost."

Then I expect some friction in this thread between Knicks fans again.

:mjcry:

But imagine a top 3 pick and there would be some unity in Knicksville for awhile. :ohlawd:

How come? :jbhmm:
Weird shot release, not incredibly athletic, no in between game, can't create much seperation off of the dribble outside of stepbacks, wants to go left because he's not that comfortable going right. Of course he has great vision, size, and instincts, but his strengths don't totally mitigate his weaknesses to me.

I spoke on his jumper in another thread its weird but it falls, and that's all that matters. :yeshrug:

-great ball rotation
-quick release (on par with Klay Thompson according to SportsScience)
-NBA+ range
-on the catch and shoot, he catches on the hop with rhythm and is good at locating his feet and line
-has arguably the best step back in the draft
-he shot 42% 3PT in the NCAA and shot well against closeouts
-shot well off sprint going right on catch and shoots
-he punished teams that went under on P&R, even it it wasn't a staple of UCLA's offense
-has been working on midrange since NCAA tournament and will continue working on it in the summer, he's a high work ethic player who loves to hoop

Also, I think you're underrating his athletic ability. He is fast with long strides, he catches lobs, he can go coast to coast and dunk the ball, he has a 6'9 wingspan, wiry strong, quick twitch and explosive. He shot 71% FG at the rim because of his attributes. He may not be as athletic as Fultz but he plays a lot more athletic than him, Fultz prefers the D'Angelo/Harden methodical game and relies on pull up J's a lot as well as shift and strength. Fox and DSJ (already had a torn ACL) are faster, better leapers but are smaller.

Sure, he has his weaknesses in the half court as a scorer. But, he'll be an impact player out the gate and a transition nightmare. His court vision and I.Q. is on par with Ben Simmons coming out LSU, best passing guard since Wall out of Kentucky. In the NBA defensively when he hits his prime he should be a steals champion and an impactful team defender. He has potential to be a triple double guy and I know he'll get KP the ball and have shooters, cutters, and anyone willing to run eating.

Manu Ginobili is a guy who managed to have a HoF NBA career and mechanically his shot is not ideal off the P&R, yet he was an elite P&R player based off his ability to slice defenses and pass the rock. :manny:

If we got 2 and Fultz was already chosen, and the lakers have 5...

I'd try to fleece a young prospect from them to swap picks so they get Ball and we might still get Fox or someone else.

I remember presenting a scenario like that before. What do you think, breh?

If they don't get top 3 they lose this years 1st round pick and their 2019 1st round pick......

Like we want to move up because it'll help us. They need to stay top 3 or they are screwed

All good points, but I'm worried about some of that will translate at an NBA level, against longer, bigger, quicker athletes, both on offense and defense. He's a good athlete in the full court when he can get a head of steam, but his initial burst just isn't that great and he's gonna need to be able to create in the half court and take advantage of switches( and not just settle for jumpers and stepbacks). All elite guards nowadays can score, but right now he settles to often and puts no pressure on defenses, mainly because he can't. Working on his mid range game isn't gonna matter much if he can't turn the corner on his man consistently. He's gonna be a good player, but when teams slow the game down, how's he gonna be able to overcome his predictability? He'll be easy to game plan for in games that really matter, and unlike other players in the draft, Ball has weakness that I don't really see him overcoming, and I think that's what bothers me the most about him. Regardless, he's gonna have to go to a team where he's the number 2 or 3 guy on offense, he'll never be a #1, so in that respect, he could be a really good fit on the Knicks, especially when you factor in he'd be a good fit in the triangle:ld: with that said, so would Frank and Issac, and I think Issac is arguably the most talented player in the draft, so I'd definitely trade Ball for those two all day.

He would have to completely change his game because Pop is not going to tolerate someone that wants to hold the ball.

Pop might be able to get it done though, he has enough prestige to force Melo to change. Even more than Phil Jackson these days IMO.
If anyone could do it it's pop, just imagine Melo on that squad:wow:

Doubt it isn't a pg pretty much their first choice. No one knows how these guys will pan out. Especially with how ny changes coaches
