Holiday has quietly had a very solid season. no complaining, no controversy, low mainteience, just plays hard on both ends of the floor and plays every game
Most teams would reward that, but hey, it's the knicks

I mean we did that with Lance and ehh

We do or we don't. We're a bad team, rewarding people shouldn't matter either way.

Being fair to Lance though, and everyone knows I hate dude, he was playing above his contract after he came back with the Rip Hamilton mask. Getting guys like Lance and Holiday on cheap contracts isn't a bad idea...key being cheap. Holiday might get paid in this market.

But that's my thing there's no reason to "pay" any roleplayers to stay until a core is established for them to work around.

There are a few reasons I don't agree with that even though I understand that thought behind it. First and foremost, a player on a good contract can be moved. Courtney Lee is the perfect example. For now, he's a good bridge until we find a long term SG and when we do, his contract is good so we can move him to get back assets. At below 10% of cap, they're not stopping you from signing anyone either. They're also role players that add continuity to the roster. Lance knows his role, Holiday will know his role and having them locked in at a cost controlled contract for the next three or four years means that if we luck into Fultz then our core can grow with the role players around them already in place as well. I don't see the negatives with keeping guys like that unless you're overpaying them. Better to have Justin Holiday in place than get to the point where we need to find our 6,7,8th man in a rush before we supermax KP and have nothing but minimum contracts to offer.

Spread Love - The Player Way
Not necessarily a positive considering how Phil has spent it

Good news is you cant sign Noah twice
gotta fill out the roster....
its gonna be a rebuild anyway...id rather him sign some bums for shorter deals and let young players play...be bad and end up in the lottery again
atleast phil can identify talent in the draft :manny:
