This shyt isn't sustainable. Was driving past smith street on my to Church in Downtown Brooklyn and I saw at least 6 empty vacant stores. And it is all over the city. Even big fashion stores are forced to close their stores because of rent. This is not good for the City's long term economic viabilty. Someone in this thread said it best. Vast swaths of NYC is going to look like a empty Ghost town with abandoned buildings and shyt like in the late 60s and 1970s.

That is gonna happen in Manhattan, too. Going back to the 70s and 80s in terms of abandoned buildings and craziness.
Once that happens, buy as much property as you can when it collapses.

Nothing is going to happen. The city will give businesses tax breaks to move here and other breaks . Like 2 months free rent and work out deals with tenants to keep them, the coli is in love with this bring back the 70’s of crime and poverty which the majority blacks suffered but I guess in your opinion we going to be on top where we can buy property and it’s going to whites doing herion and crack while we run nyc .

And what? There are people in Europe and China And the Middle East who can afford to move here and will do it. This hipster shyt is got to stop, stop blaming one group and look at the bigger picture. This city is desirable to everyone and guess what the hipsters that move will get replaced by younger ones. Nothing stays the same. There is no 1970 cut sleeves gangs coming back. The past is gone. Just say I hope it happens because you don’t know what you are talking about. Koreans and Chinese can move here or you forgot about that group? You only see hipsters? Give me a break.
The world is about to plunge into a depression. China and Korea ain't looking too bright either. The white population is dwindling dramatically as well, so once these new set of hipsters grow up, they will be in the minority. They will not be replaced like that, especially after 2030.
Just say you like all of your income in hyperinflated housing, and have no disposable income in investing for the future. Crazy how people defend using over 70% of their paycheck on bills.

With the GOP tax bill passed it will hurt the city because it will increase the deficit. This is likely to to trigger budget cuts. Budgets cuts that will hurt the city and state. The city already has a budget deficit of 826 million because of lower than expected buisness and sales tax. That is trend is likely to continue. Not to mention the tax plan limit the state and local tax deduction which targeted democratic states, will force the city to lower taxes. They won't be able to give tax breaks in a time with forced diminishing tax receipts.
And from what I have seen the city is in no rush to stopping the high rising rent. Wealthy land developvers have deep pockets and are ruthless. They want their bread now and fast. I am not hoping for the old days of the city because black people suffered greatly in the 70s-early 90s. Plus I go out alot in clubs. Last thing I want is to get robbed,shot or stabbed. Plus i want to have a family eventually. I dont to want to worry about my kids safety in publuc school ig shyt gets bad. All I see trends that is not going help the city's economic viabilty. And thanks to the Republican tax plan it makes it more dire.

Don't know why you want the hipsters from the suburb suburbs to move into NYC out of all places. You would be irritated as fukk when you see where a lot of these folks are coming from and can't understand why they would trade that to live in a closet, sharing an apartment with two, three or more people just to say they are in Brooklyn. The new Brooklyn is corny too. It's lost its glamour trying to impress the suburbanites that want to hold on to their small town, uppity values. So many businesses that you could never find anywhere else in the world that people basically would travel or were tourist destinations are gone because of that shyt. They are being replaced by big businesses like urban outfitters and whole foods or these spots like yoga studios, art galleries, coffee house spots and basically shyt you can find at the nearest uppity suburb. It's ridiculous. You could get good clothes, music, hard to find shyt even that could go for thousands of more if you were to auction them on ebay. Those days are gone. It may have been gritty but that's the way most cities are.
If I was paying 2,000 for rent, I would want a penthouse suite with a jacuzzi, four bedrooms, huge living room, and etc. That's basically 24,000 a year. Might as well buy a house with property that is yours for that much.
And the funny part is that a majority of those same people will move right back to where they came from with little to nothing to show for what they moved into NYC for. It's ridiculous. NYC used to be a come up city which was why people moved here to begin with from other countries or people who were broke from other states, found a great job and moved there and still do but that has completely changed ever since all these folks from that are clearly over qualified want to go to the working class areas to have fun or be cool. Makes no sense.

Where did I say I desired hipsters? Nowhere is the answer. I said stop blaming one group and look at the bigger picture. I said look at the Chinese and Koreans moving in and taking over neighborhoods . I said look at the Russian and Middle easterners who can move here with no money problems at all. I wouldn't say China and Korea is going through a depression but the American economy is general is going to face series of crisises in the medium to long term. But the next economic crash will be a disaster
