1)Let's be reality, the only real differences between Williamsburg and Murray Hill is pant leg width and hygiene. Both neighborhoods are full of trust-fund wielding semi-busted white people, both wear the same labels, both have people that work in marketing and unprofitable startups, both like to overpay for fakkity desserts like frozen yogurt and cupcakes and both have a decent amount of libertarians. shyt, a lot of those foodie places that hipsters go to were founded by ex-hedge funders and other Wall Street guys. The notion that hipsters are different from other narcissistic transplants is a false dichotomy invented by nitpicking white people with subpar intellects.

2) Harlem was always at least 15 percent black going back to the Dutch days. In fact towards the 1890s many German Jewish landlords preferred to rent to "Negro" tenants over Eastern European Jewish and Italian immigrants. There's a whole book on the history of Harlem by Jonathan Gill.

I aint mad at it. I mean just walking the streets of Ft. Greene and Billyburg to be able to get any type of meal that I want is okay with me:yeshrug:

Most of the fine black women that live here in NYC are all transplants. The best ones are all from Louisiana, Los Angeles, Tennessee, Houston and Vancouver.:wow:

I will say that the only unfortunate thing about the whole "gentrification" ordeal is that I can spot a "Brooklyn" born chick anywhere. And those bytches just get thrown in the bushes.

Who lives in Manhattan anymore though? I mean really :what:

Everyone I know is on some spacely sprocket shlt or students.

Spacely sprocket shyt? You mean like rich? If so you proved my point. They're a lot of cacs that prefer to live in Manhattan away from us, but can't afford it.

I was over by Hart St cause thats where my dad lived back when he was first born. I think Hart and Marcy Ave..I saw bloody towels and shyt on the ground with blood stains though :russ:

went to a bbq on this same corner the other day. Hipsters do NOT frequent that side but a lot of urban professionals call it home. Went to buy some ice at the store for the bbq and had about 8 youngbloods holding court ice grilling like :pacspit:

Word? Last time I was up top, they was all in the surrounding areas of Knickerbocker. Where Flushing and Knickerbocker meet, they all in those new lofts where factories used to be.

Yeah, they are all by Flushing all te way leading down to Williamsburg.

I grew up in Bushwick/Ridgewood and it still seems to be somewhat the same around Knickerbocker & Irving area. I still see more Ricans than hipsters and no bike lanes so I still think they haven't been overrun yet.

Basically any neighborhood along the L line is a target.

That is true. I don't think I saw many of them past Wyckoff Avenue. Knickerbocker Ave (the main part south of Myrtle, where all the stores are) is Boricua central, especially in the summertime.... :noah:

Which street you grew up on, breh?

I just came from Harlem

Its nice, seems like a good mix, and its still very hood/black

Lots of abandoned storefronts and people hanging out on stoops/corners

Do nikkas need crime + danger to feel at ease :wtf:

No, black people just naturally feel more comfort being around our own.

Just unfortunate we happen to be the most violent towards our own :wow:

QUEENS NY
I hate how hipsters try and paint themselves are NY'ers. You're not a fukking NY'er, you're the furthest thing from a NY'er. You have the personality of a 2x4 and every time another one moves into the city it further kills the culture and character of NYC. They act like they're creative and different but they are no different than the rest of the people out in the suburbs that have no personality. They cry about getting away from what suburb they come from but when they get here they do everything they can to turn the city into whatever boring bland suburb they came from.

I just looked up "SoBro" and white people really are trying to rename South Bronx. :laff:

'SoBro' and 'ProCro' NoJoke to Assemblyman - NYTimes.com

LOL @ the white residents moving in, feeling guilty, and not wanting other white people to move in so the neighborhood won't become "bland." This is like some article I read years ago about Harlem gentrification where the white dude they were interviewing said that he was concerned about more white people moving in because the neighborhood might lose its "character". I guess they feel they are the "cool" white people so its OK if they move in.

See thats the shyt that fukks me up. And gets people angry.

But most "gentrifiers" are not like that. Who would move to a neighborhood where they arent wanted, are around crime and quality of life issues and far away from friends + work, if they had a choice to move somewhere w/o all those problems?
