You can work out around a back problem, the Hodge twins don't deadlift or do squats and most people would kill to have their physiques, plus they're almost 40.
It all depends on the end goal, you don't need to lift heavy to get a muscular look. @
houston911, my breh you can just ditch squats/deads altogether and focus on 60-75% your max for lifts and aim for 12-15 reps, that will lead to hypertrophy. I've noticed on the innanet everyone seems to side more towards powerlifting routines when the end goal is really to just look better, and bodybuilders while they do lift heavy also use machines, isolate and avoid certain lifts while also focusing on contraction & reps.

Walt, try using the T-bar row station with light weights and see how your back responds to it. If you do it properly your lower back should be completely out of the lift, don't pull your head back and try to keep your chest on the pad. You can build a ripped or big back with one of them, for your lats just do pull/chin ups.
