Nobody stays on top forever, but it's still crazy to me how hard Murder Inc & Ja fell. They were on fire after Ja dropped that track with Christina in 2000. Followed that up with "Put It On Me" w/ Lil Mo and rode the wave. Ashanti came on the scene and men & women were feeling her for the most part. Even when they began falling off in the tail end of the early 00's, Lloyd was still killing it in the spring & summer. "Hey Young Girl" & "Southside" were super dope at the time and aged like wine. The whole thing blew up though and their star faded about as quickly as it appeared. 50 & G Unit came along and stole their thunder, and then a mere handful of years later, they were flopping, too.
Show business is ruthless.
You have to tip your hat at the artists who defied the concept of a shelf life and still kept a solid fanbase decades after their initial push. The game will chew you up & spit you out without hesitating.
