breh i realize this argument is taking place primarily to troll muslims etc but 9 years old is NOT anywhere near past puberty, even by old world standards :dwillhuh:

My understanding is the age of Aisha is up for debate but the fact that she had passed puberty is certain

Now we may feel today that physically reaching puberty does not make a woman in a social, psychological and emotional manner but whose to say that was the case in 675 AD? I mean today around the world, 13-14 yr old women run households. To think a 10-11-12 yr old wouldnt have played that role 1300 yrs ago is not a stretch

In 6th century Arabia, a girl was considered grown once she passed puberty, this at a time when the avg life expectancy was 40 something yrs old.

What the Prophet Mohamad did was nothing outside the nom of the time

Some here seem to be upset the Prophet Mohamad never let Aisha finish her freshmen year, and attend her jr high prom

I was going to make the same point. I'm not a atheists, or religious. I don't believe Muhammad was divine, but it is unfair to be too judgmental about A'ishah. It was an arranged marriage that wasn't even his idea. He had a wife before A'ishah named Khadijah, who was much older than him. That was rare in those days. After Khadijah died others around Muhammad arranged marriages for him. He married widows that lost there husbands in addition to A'ishah. He had 11 wifes after Khadijah died, and would say none of them ever compared to Khadijah.
Also he didn't marry A'ishah when she was 9. The marriage was arranged when she was 9 or 10, but they didn't get married for several years after that. She lived with her parents until they were officially married. She was anywhere form 12 to 15 when they married. That still don't make it right, but in those days this was considered the norm.

The sad part about this is that people try to equate the terms and conditions of yesteryear to today's standards. The lack of knowledge in history proves fatal. Back in those times with Islam, Christianity and Judaism....married girls at young ages based off...

1. Poor Families not able to take care of their child.
2. Older Parents who are dying
3. Forced Marriages

This continued all the way to today time...even in America. Even to some people's belief Mary was only 12 when she conceived a child.

Not to mention, that's simply how things were done on Earth up until recently. This wasn't an Islamic thing, not a Saudi Arabia thing, to a Middle East thing. Wasn't a 500 AD thing. An older man marring younger women and girls was an Earth thing for all of history. ntm age expectency during the time of Muhammad.

Of course because a prophet did it, it's unusually horrible and wrong. People bring this up to imply that Muhammad was some trifling crazy perverted child molester or something. In reality he wasn’t a predator at all; he had women older than him or his age until someone asked him to marry a younger one (which was common) due to extenuating circumstances. But even if he simply wanted a younger chick, and he chose to marry young in the first place – it’s immature and see through to form some weak opinion on the prophet because of that without putting it into context.
