What was the reason for albums being released on Fridays anyway?

Physicals were still kinda a thing then, but they claimed it would cut down on piracy if stuff dropped worldwide on the same day. It became the official day July 2015.

Maybe people get paid on Fridays is the thought? That'd make more sense if you going to physically get the CD after work. Maybe the thought is when the money hits you'll download it and listen to it on your night out? I miss Tuesdays too to ride into work and back then run with what I like on the weekends

You get to sample the album on Tuesday and then if you love it you’re cranking it all weekend.. I’m ok with it. People are still going to declare albums the greatest ever or the worst ever anyway so does it even matter when they drop?

i love the friday drop.
i usually stop working for the day around midnight or i'm just getting back from the gym/shower if i stopped working earlier. then im getting ready to get settled, log into youtube and see all the new drops for my subs. it really gives "happy friday" vibes. great way to start the weekend.
