You have to have tough fights, near loses & all out wars to be considered great. If you beat everyone's ass, critics say the division is weak.
I'm having a tough time thinking of an athlete that was great at everything. They have strengths & weaknesses. The wrong match up can expose those weaknesses. Age can expose those weaknesses. I know y'all ain't shafting Ali because of this one fight.

Dude was a fukking c00n I shyt on Ali anywhere and any chance I get, great fighter though but truth is truth, he is only touted higher than a Foreman cause he shucked and Jived and mocked blacks, calling them monkeys and ugly during segregated times while the whites sat back and laughed

This is the reason Mayweather gets slighted history wise he's too good, almost like a video game character, the best defense by numbers, the best offense by numbers, granite chin never been dropped, blazing speed which has only slightly dropped off and respectable pop. But greats are only determined by the adversity they face and how they bounce back, Mayweather doesnt have that the closest we seen was the 2 punches from Mosley, this train of thinking is exactly why Marciano gets slighted also.......
Foreman heart wasnt in boxing at that time, he had a couple of ko's vs nobodies but post ali he was a shell of himself and soulless man, not to mention he fought Young in unbearable heat, and nearly died from a heat stroke in the locker room..............
he fought in the same conditions that can't be used as an excuse.

ali was flabby in all his fights with Norton
Norton was too inconsistent for me to say he is an all time great, he is a hall of famer, but not an all time great.
Nobody is discrediting Foreman for being an all time great, but he's not better than Ali
Ali beat him when he was the Mike Tyson of his generation
regardless of how you feel about it the nikka lost
you forget foreman took ten years off, and dusted off Michael Moorer you acting like he dusted of Tyson, Holyfield, Bowe, or Lewis

ali is known as the goat because of his mouth, because he is a icon/black hero, and because he got sick. if he didn't take those 3 years off in his prime den mayb, but he had many flaws as a boxer. rarely ever threw body shots

Foreman. Lets not act like Moorer wasnt above all of those names at that point neitherI agree to a degree. But it's an assumption critics make. How do you judge a fighter's heart & chin unless they're tested, for example?
Ali is considered great because we got to see everything. We've seen him dominate early in his career. We've seen him return to greatness after a 3 year layoff. We've seen his chin tested. We've seen him come back after being hurt & knocked down. We've seen him in 15 round wars. We've seen him overcome flaws. There's no mystery.

Whether he was nice guy or not is irrelevant...that would be like someone dismissing Floyd's accomplishments/skills/place in boxing because he acts like an a$$hole and put hands on his baby momma.

jimmy gave a lot of the top heavies of the time problems in his short prime...dropped foreman and decisioned him, beat ron lyle soundly twice, was jobbed against Norton big time to the point where ken even thought he lost the shyt...and his chin was top notch..only shavers, an all time great puncher, was actually able to get him off his feet...c00ney stopped him with a cut and teed off him when he was blinded by his own blood but couldn't knock him down
