The details of Shyne's 1999 birthday celebration at Club New York are still a bit up in the air, but several facts have been accepted about the night that ruined the singer's career, forced Puff Daddy to change his name and scarred Jennifer Lopez forever. Now, 15 years later, one of the victims is finally speaking out.

We tend to remember the famous people involved in an altercation that resulted in gunshots, while forgetting the three victims of the shooting. But one of them, an Instagram user named @ms_ebonay (aka Eboné The Truth), came out of the social media woodwork after @upnorthtrips posted a newspaper image commemorating the 15-year anniversary of the altercation (via Hip Hop DX).
Her first comment was as follows:

I AM THE WOMA[N] WHO WAS SHOT IN THE FACE THE MOST SERIOUSLY INJURED PERSON... I have suffered a great deal of PHYSICAL & EMOTIONAL PAIN behind this FOOLISH DISPLAY OF EGO AND INSECURITY ... God bless the others who shared in and survived this tragedy with me... I lay here in bed thanking God for sparing me in spite of all the tribulations... Feeling at PEACE... Only to see @upnorthtrips displaying sympathy for celebrities who played THE INSTRUMENTAL ROLL IN MY INJURY AND PAIN.
After some back and forth with other users, Eboné rolled some tide on someone named @iwritetimeless.

I am someone's Mother, Sister, Friend, and an ORIGINAL fan of Hip Hop... I remember walking to Strakers record store on Utica ave BROOKLYN in August 1979 with my allowance and my sister I was 9, and I bought a half green half white 45 called " King Tim The III" by the Fatback Band then about a week and a half later "Rappers Delight" by the Sugarhill Gang and I knew every WORD... So plz don't tell me about HIP HOP FIGURES .... Cause it's the little soldiers and supporters in the trenches that allow them to be who they are... I AM AN INNOCENT VICTIM and NO ONE will EVER take my voice.

If Eboné was indeed a victim from that night in '99, then these are some powerful words on America's celebrity culture and the wounds it tends to create, literally and figuratively. Here's the newspaper posting that started all of yesterday's hubbub:

Diddy is a dude that's hated by so many people, they figure he must've done something wrong. So they've decided to pin just about every crime under the sun on him. Only thing I'm sure of is that he's associated with too many known criminals and stupid rappers.

The hiphop police been trying for years to tie him to E-W stuff and the DA Matthew Bogdognos had a vendetta to pin these gun charges and bribery on Puffy.

I followed this trial/case/incident like a fukking court reporter when I was in 9th grade, Shyne was my favorite rapper….Cocaine reside was found in the Navigator, which was suppressed at trial, and no I don't think Puff fired any shots, I think it was Shyne, and Scar and his people…..Story goes that Scar said whats up to Puff, and Puff ignored him, or was condescending, so Scar threw a stack of money in Puff's face….things escalated, Shyne pulled out and they went at it….pretty tragic from the perspective of Shyne, and the women who was shot in the face, to Puff it was just a bump in the road, albeit a near fatal one…funny to think in 5 more years or so, few will remember this Puff, he's squeaky clean, Zip Martin and Keefe D, Steve Stoute, Shyne, and few others know way better…

edit: this documentary sheds virtually no light on the shooting….I could tell you more from courttv's coverage in high school

It was Scar who dissed Puff after his drink was spilled, he started yelling at Puff because Puff caused a panic when he threw money in the air. Shyne shot a dude with Scar in the arm, and also tried to shoot Julius Jones who testified against him. The second shot hit me he ceiling because he was tackled. Wolf hit Natayna Rubin when he tried to shoot a couple shots into the crowd to clear a path. Scar and Julius told the police Shyne try to kill them. No one in Scars entourage was caught. Black Rob stated before the shyt jumped off he dapped it up with dudes, but they were talking shyt about Puff. Rob tried to squash it. Wolf threw his gone out the car, Puff was high and panicky, he forgot to throw his gun, and only realized when a cop began pursuit.
