I mean has anyone ever sat back and asked how life went before Mufasa had Simba? He's a prop for Simba's development and he's out of the movie pretty fast. I get JEJ voiced him but is he interesting enough for a prequel? I mean do a Scar prequel and that would be more interesting.

More importantly though...when is the Sundiata Keita, (the Lion of Mali) the first ruler of the Mali Empire, movie getting made? Because that's what the Lion King is based on. But Disney would never create a movie about a Black empire so they made one about african animals instead.

It just seems like either Disney is admitting the Lion King 2 and The Lion Guard were mistake or they're afraid to go forward here. We don't need any character development on Mufasa. Hell any development on him will assault the character he was known as. He's not Jimmy McGill where you sit back and go he's interesting how did he become so sleazy? Mufasa is supposed to be almost perfect and they'll cheapen that for a prequel.

The Lion Guard was made strictly for Disney Junior and wouldn't translate to theater while the Lion King 2 going straight to DVD gives them all the excuse they need to pretend that the movie isn't canon, which is exactly what they did with the Buzz Lightyear one.
