It makes more sense for it being a time machine than anything else.

Brehs just dont want it to veer into the sci-fi territory but it's been slowly prepping us for the big reveal the whole time.

The more I think about it, the more I think it has to do with transferring human consciousness into and out of a computer network via electromagnetic waves. Maybe a REAL part of his father's brain (along with who knows what else) got beamed into Elliot. It just had the side effect of giving a bunch of people cancer.

That's how White Rose can bring people back. Not through time travel, but through downloading/uploading personalities (Like "San Junipero" in Black Mirror).

I'm thinking that that's why the inner circle of the Dark Army is willing to commit suicide... because White Rose has them convinced that their minds are backed up on tape. Even if it doesn't work yet, all that matters is that they think it does.

I think they messed up a bit by having Price say that White Rose invented the Internet (assuming that we believe him).
The internet is probably the greatest technological change since the atomic bomb. Yet, they're saying that White Rose created the internet as just one step leading up to the creation of his machine. So, whatever his machine turns out to be will probably be anticlimactic (e.g. there is no machine at all, its all lies) or unbelievable Sci Fi superscience (Time Travel, Parallel Universes, etc.) It's the kind of problem that 24 always had. How can the end of a season top what has already happened, if nuclear bombs already went off half way through the day?

I actually suspect its some kind of super AI capable of running The Matrix, and either the world we're seeing on the show is a simulation, or they will imply that the show's world is the *real* world, and OUR world is the Matrix that White Rose created.

If they're going that way, I'm not so sure how I feel about that.

Like I said earlier in the thread, it doesn't matter what the machine is. Or if it even works.

The only thing that matters is White Rose wants it built, and believes it'll work.

Apply how White Rose feels about the "mission" and machine....to religious zealots. God (whatever God a particular group believes in) = that machine.

I don't literally mean the machine is God, I mean religious zealots adhere to their beliefs and act on them (sometimes violently) with zero proof what they believe in is actually right. Or even exists at all.

If cats are waiting for some kind of "Stranger Things" season 3 machine opening portals to other worlds....they're gonna be disappointed.

Even if my mind is backed up it's just a copy. If I kill myself I'm still dead. The copy is a copy, not me. My consciousness Is dead
