The Dark Knight Rises. There are a lot of stupid things in that movie that you might miss on a first watch. The police sending their entire force underground, Bruce losing all his money at the stock exchange, Bruce teleporting to Gotham despite not having any money or equipment, Bruce teleporting away from the nuke etc.

Even ignoring all that the third straight act is straight up ass.
Thank you! I was saying this in real time in the theater. Nolan just completely said fukk coherent storytelling this shyt looks good and people thought it was better than it was cause they dikk ride him.

The Matrix, but not because of the movie itself.

I rewatched it a couple of weeks ago during a Fathom Event for the film's 25th anniversary. The movie still holds up (arguably even moreso now since it's all about the dangers of an AI takeover), but a lot of its impact is diminished because so many movies in the 2000s tried to rip it off. I imagine younger viewers seeing it for the first time the way some people view Superman, Seinfeld or classic Simpsons--groundbreaking for their times, but so many imitators that make it harder to stand out as time goes on.

Plus the fact that the whole red pill ideology came from this movie :francis: though in hindsight it's hilarious that all these so-called 'alpha males' based their whole personality on a movie by two trans women:mjlol:

I saw it for the first time 5 years ago and thought it stood out. Even though the CGI is kind of dated, the action still feels really intense and cool

IMO Joker (2019) and The Dark Knight (2008)

both DC cultprits :lolbron: I remember coming out the theatre after watching both like :gladbron: but every time I rewatch either they get worse and worse. I consider Todd Phillips Joker genuinely trash now while the Dark Knight is just mid :ehh:
I always loved Batman movies and dark knight was my favorite and yea rewatched and realized it’s not. Actually made heath ledger performance more impressive because it really kind of looked like a one man show. Bale is a hell of a actor. But that movie was all joker persona and everything else staled behind. Good movie, but not great like I thought

The right way, the wrong way and the Max Power way

Definitely this.

I already noticed the stupid shyt upon first viewing but a second watch was all I needed to be done with the movie completely. Bane was cool, the stadium setpieice was great. I can watch those scenes on YouTube, I don't need to ever sit through that movie again.
