I think what helped it out was that it was one of the first 3D movies I ever saw in the movies. They did it before Avatar did. Wanna say Spy Kids 3 did it too.

The thing that got me is the old man shovel dude end up knocking the wet bandits unconscious, yet they manage to survive falling down the stairs, being burnt to death, having shards of ornaments on their feet, and compressing their spines on the slippery ice.
