I'd be far happier if we lived in a world without them entirely.
I'm not going to lie and say I don't get excited and can't help but watch the FIRST teasers and trailers for most big movies, but if getting rid of all trailers meant getting rid of those too, I'd be happy.
I just saw Southpaw last night, and just as suspected, there was absolutely NO REASON for the trailers to spoil the films first MAJOR plot point. If you've seen it, or any of the marketing, you know what I'm talking about. It would have been just as easy to sell the film without giving that away.
And honestly, knowing that moment ahead of time definitely takes away from the movie. This happens FAR too often.
