I'd be far happier if we lived in a world without them entirely.

I'm not going to lie and say I don't get excited and can't help but watch the FIRST teasers and trailers for most big movies, but if getting rid of all trailers meant getting rid of those too, I'd be happy.

I just saw Southpaw last night, and just as suspected, there was absolutely NO REASON for the trailers to spoil the films first MAJOR plot point. If you've seen it, or any of the marketing, you know what I'm talking about. It would have been just as easy to sell the film without giving that away.

And honestly, knowing that moment ahead of time definitely takes away from the movie. This happens FAR too often.

I agree too many trailers give too much away its fukking retarded. They need to take it back to 90s style marketing.

No reason for trailers to be 2:30-3:00+ :beli:

The crimson peak trailer they keep showing seems to show too much as well.

Side note universal did a great job with the Compton movie. Awesome teaser + social media memes :obama:

I will say that MOST "first" trailers are harmless. But every once in a while, like with Southpaw or 2 Guns, even the simplest trailer ruins pretty important plot points.

And a lot of times, all I have to know is who's directing a film, or the cast to know if I want to see it or not.

For movies I'm on the fence about, I guess a trailer could sway me... but we all have those films that we know we're going to see regardless of whether or not we thought the trailer was great.

I went to see Straight Out of Compton yesterday, and they played a trailer for this movie called Perfect Guy (I think that's the name of it) starring Sanaa Lathan, and my god, it was like they gave away the entire plot/story of the movie in the trailer. I looked at my wife as we sat there after it finished and I was like, "Well who doesn't know what's going to happen in that one there huh?"

The Town had one if the best trailers in a ling time. It gave you just enough to wet your appetite, but didn't give the movie away.

Was thinking this same thing when I watched the man from uncle. There's a scene in damn near every trailer and it really does give away the ending of the movie

Well, then I'm glad I've seen literally ZERO footage from this one

Trailers are an art form unto themselves.

I hate trailers that give away too much plot but its hard to find a balance.

I remember interstellar having great trailers that gave away little to nothing.
