I’m surprised you hated the movie based on what you said because I thought it was middle ground “both sides are ridiculous” af. It was centrist to the point of almost being apolitical imo
the POV was irrelevant to me, b/c it still hit on all the fukkin overused terms and cliches that have essentially turned America into a fukkin joke. I'm just fukkin sick of it, no matter how you approach it. it's the reason I'd never watch The President Show, and skip SNL political sketches... we're so far beyond parody it's insane. There's no way of making this shyt funny or poignant anymore. That couple with the anxiety of the present and an overused structure made this move a perfect storm of criticism for me. I expect most people to just shrug and say "meh, it was ok."

That’s pretty much how I felt. It was a very safe movie and all the controversy was overblown. The only truly unpredictable part was

The first 20 minutes or so when they kept killing off all the major actors

of course the controversy was overblown. we all knew that before even seeing the damn movie. if anything you'd think the people who complained would think they were the underdogs of the story but since it came from "Liberal Hollywood" there's no way the Conservatives could win.

... see, even i'm doing it now. shyt was exhausting before that c*nt even won the election.

I mean the hero of the story was basically “ :yeshrug: I don’t care about politics, I’m just trying to survive. Both sides are stupid.” Based on what you’re saying you’d think the movie was overtly preachy but I really didn’t think it was aside from a few political jokes thrown in there.

bros, i've been on the verge of a mini panic attack for a couple days and i'm being unfair to this movie right now, but The Hunt just instantly entered my top 10 most hated movies of all time. It's just bad timing, i can admit that, but fukk man, i hated this shyt. beside the fact we've seen the "hunt humans for sport" story 100 times, i just can't fukkin take Trump themed rhetoric anymore, even in satire. the fukkin MAGA buzzwords like "snowflake" and then the extreme opposite "i'm triggered" shyt, it's so fukkin played out. I'm not a "both sidesism" person, i fukkin hate MAGAs, but they killed comedy, so trying to even saritize them is dead. Sometimes a movie comes at just the wrong time, and this was it.
The movie shyt on MAGA folks and the too woke for their own good progressive with the same amount of venom.

i understand that. i honestly don't care who is the brunt of the joke. coulda gone either way instead of both, i'm just so burnt on all the rhetoric and slang of our present day that this movie just kinda came to a head for me.

completely unrelated to this thread topic, but on the flipside, i watched The Other Guys and that shyt was incredible right now. had the exact opposite effect. one of the funniest movies ever. if you asked me prior, i woulda said "yeah, that's a solid comedy." but it did a lot to make me forget our lives right now

I get that fatigue.
But the fact that it made bot extreme sides of the US political universe into the villains while the only hero of the film was an apolitical person who just wanted to be left alone and hated both of those groups made it feel less of a hamfisted message to me.
Basically you were the hero of this movie.

The Hunt was entertaining but not as entertaining as Invisible Man, Lindelof can do better :ehh:

See I feel the opposite. The Hunt was far more entertaining than Invisible Man. I almost fell asleep on IM. Both had mediocre endings tho.
