“Virtual reality has essentially been designed so the mind and body can’t differentiate virtual/digital experiences from real,” she wrote on Medium. “In some capacity, my physiological and psychological response was as though it happened in reality.”

The article even mentions how you can feel physical sensations

I’m a VR user, I do think it’s a reasonable to have a bigger conversation about the VR community, and appropriate conduct

I don’t doubt it can be uncomfortable at times, and harassment is very possible and should be addressed

That said, to say she was “gang raped” is hyperbole, and insulting to actual rape victims. It’s also very easy to quit applications and/ or remove the headset if you’re not enjoying the experience

This was why I made all my characters female in MMORPG's. Dudes are THIRSTY online and she should have done what I did: Get their money.

If you played World of Warcraft and gave gold to a naked Blood Elf Paladin dancing in front of Orgrimmar on the Stormscale Server......:umad:
BREEHHHH :dead:. You just brought back a ton of WoW memories...... that shyt happened on Thrall server too :mjlol:.

Right.

I've seen enough videos of grown people scared to walk over a virtual plank on a skyscraper edge because they genuinely feel like they are falling.

The point is, your brain can, and will, pick up certain feelings or vibes that can make you feel uncomfortable.

Yes, the person can walk away or turn off the screen but when has that been a barrier to legitimizing harassment. The initial act happens, a person reacts and feels harassed and then they remove themselves...

Okay, but they still felt violated. That is legitimate.

If thats the case, all the racists calling folks the n word on these online games should have been in prison.:gucci:

Ya, I don’t disagree. My main pushback here is invoking the word “rape”, which feels neither accurate nor appropriate
