I've looked at apartments for rent up there. Saw some shyt in South Shore just a few blocks from the lake for right at a rack. Looked at a condo in a 3 flat in Washington Park, new remodel, swank as fukk for about $1150. My mom's stay in a nice older high rise on the Northside, her rent only $1350 month. None of those equal more than 17 racks a year. And all those are in decent to pretty good areas. I'm sure where this broad was living is the slums, worst of the worst. Ain't no way in hell 17 racks barely covers rent for some hood rat in Auburn-Gresham or Englewood.

I'm not trolling, and there's nothing "illogical" about a person who doesn't have a car buying a car.

The money was intended for funeral expenses.

After that buy a beater and set up a charity for other kids and families. Pay it forward.

$17000 buys funeral used car paus rent and have enough left over donate to church and starting non profit.

Why do single mothers spend money meant for their children on themselves, I don't get it. It's disgusting.

The kid is dead and funerals are expensive as Hell. Personally I'd rather see her invest it in stocks. Either way it's a Hell of a lot better than just giving all of your money away to a funeral home and not getting any use out of your purchase.

You seem simple, breh! So you're "telling" me that she couldn't have moved to a safer state, city area with $17,000 that costs less to live (Texas, Georgia) and found a job there?

Lets say she moved to a new city and let's assume she has a full 17k in the bank, when it's time to find an apartment or house, she has to be able to demonstrate that she can afford it. There's usually a credit check and proof of employment via check stubs.

She wouldn't have a job to verify employment and there's also the hurdle of renters history.

Anyone suggesting that she uproot and move must also assume that she has good credit, good rental history and possesses the skills to find gainful employment in the place she relocates to. The alternative is to move in low income housing in her new city where they aren't as strict with eligibility requirements and will take anyone with a down payment and then the cycle continues because those areas usually have higher crime and less opportunity.

To be honest I would.

I think people are underestimating how much $17k is because you can get a cheap bumblefukk apartment for the low and I'm sure there's organizations to help her with the transition and expenses just like they paid for the funeral costs.

Stay in the same house with a high chance of getting got and nikkas know you got $17k move with $17k for your safety and live in a cheap studio or shared living space
