Actually the emphasis on this should be the wrong doing of the mother, and why she shouldn't be doing this. You want to ignore all the wrong doing, and only focus of the victim, which would be fine, but if you ignore the source and cause of the wrong doing, you're enabling and excusing further wrong doing when it occurs because you're only focused on the clean up, not the prevention.
