Most valuable/expensive sports cards you had growing up?

I got a gang of cards, but I never looked to see what any of them is worth. I gotta find my folders that I got em in, I looked in a show box with some of em and found

in middle school we used to call them "piece of the ass" cards and obsess over collecting them

they were worthless though

A few months ago, I pulled my cards out and for some reason, I got back in the game. Hadn't bought anything since like '01. I had a nice collection before and I added some good cards to it. Most have real value too.

Some of the newer stuff is REALLY nice. If anyone cares, I'll post some examples of it.

I got that Ken Griffey Jr Upper Deck rookie card,.. when I was a youngun that shyt was worth hundreds of dollars. I just checked eBay and it's going for like $12

Are cards not worth anything these days or did that price drop cuz of all the injuries?

That card market got over saturated like a motherfukker. I ended up selling what was left of my collection for about $400 a couple of months ago; had I sold it ten or fifteen years ago I probably could've got five racks.

They're specializing the market now. A lot of stuff is on actual limited runs.

Here's a special series I like called "Notable Nicknames." They have (most) of the players sign the card with their nickname.
