Man shut the hell up. The US is at the top because we are at least competitive in damn near everything. You take any individual event and there are other countries who can fare better but the fact that we are in everything……..competitively………gives us the edge.

For example we only won 1 more gold medal in swimming than Australia. But Australia is trash in everything except swimming so we destroy them in medals.

Korea is miles better than us in shooting and and archery.

Japan is good in men’s gymnastics.

Etc…….

We also have LOADS of individual wealth compared to those nations. Americans can spend time on sports because we can afford it for the most part.

And our diversity means we have multiple cultures involved in our sporting culture.

India, Nigeria and Pakistan if we're talking raw numbers. But given economic context PLUS population I'd say Argentina and Brazil. For as many people and (in the case of ARG and BRA) not absolute destitution, they don't perform that well internationally. Hell, Brazil just won its FIRST Olympic gold medal in men's soccer in 2016. That's mad.

A lot of the athletes we are apparently cheating to beat go to college and train professionally in the US. So are you saying they train here but don’t have access to the doping program yet still go on to beat the US athletes?

So a US trainer is giving the drugs to the US athlete but not the other athlete he is also training?

How does that work when athletes switch from the US to another nation? They just stop getting the dope and refuse to snitch?

That French swimming guy who is busting everyone’s ass is trained by the same guy who trained Phelps……….in Texas. So the trainer gave Phelps the drugs but not the French guy?
