I honestly don’t remember Marlo finding out about Joe setting it up and I watched the show recently.

I just know Cheese gave up the info about Butch, but he never mentioned the card game. Cheese the only one who woulda gave it up since I think he was around when Hoe dropped the info to Omar.

Joe being responsible for the shipment getting jacked was bad enough. Then you set him up to get robbed just to trick him into joining the co-op.

See that’s where the line disappears because There was no scene showing Cheese giving up Joe. Cheese betraying Joe wasn’t properly built up.

Episodes were always showing how Marlo was moving in on Joe’s connect, so that’s why I side with Marlo wanting to be the main one and deciding to kill Joe. He was always obsessed with being the Kingpin. He took Bodie’s street because they were doing well. He didn’t have to do it because Bodie was independent, small fish, and would never compete with Marlo. But Marlo wanted it because he was on his Napoleon steez.

Still think the bigger picture to take out Joe was to be the top player. That reason (the setup) was just a side reason. Marlo wa always about rolling solo. Being the King was always his endgame.
