Baseball is not the number one sport for Latinos:martin:

And young white people are going away from baseball. Baseball has the oldest and whitest demo

who cares about a harris poll

he most popular sport in the country was the NFL, followed by 50 percent of those surveyed. Baseball (32 percent), college football (29 percent), NBA (22 percent) and college basketball (19 percent) rounded out the top five.

The NHL was followed by 15 percent of those polled, the PGA Tour was followed by 13 percent, and women's tennis fans (9 percent) outnumbered men's tennis fans (8 percent).

The Harris Poll is a compilation of 2,368 adults in the U.S, along with representative oversamples of Hispanic Americans and Asian Americans.

2,368 people are what we are basing this on
People always try to use how many people are in a study to discount it. Now I dont remember exactly how they do it but statisticians do not need to survey millions of people in order to make their projections.

But I agree with you. Who cares about the Harris poll.

Yankees are more than just a storied franchise though..they are the world's biggest and most recognized sports franchise in the world. A year the Yankees do not at least make the playoffs is considered an "off" year...an outlier.

Typically teams with top 10 payrolls (Dodgers, Yankees, Giants, etc.) are guaranteed to make the playoffs year after year with MAYBE one or two outside of the top 10 making a playoff spot.

And while the farm system has success some teams farm players into top notch pros and once they become FA other teams with higher payrolls can throw money at them while the lower market teams have to rely on continuously farming talent and trading them once they become great just to afford the other lower tier or average players on the roster.

As a Rockies fan baseball sucks because I know we have to strictly rely on farming just to compete with the two top payroll teams in our division alone (Giants, and Dodgers)
:mjlol: No they aren't

MLB ahead of NBA?

I have a hard time believing baseball is still ahead of basketball nowadays.
Depends on where you live

Where I'm at, Baseball is a close #2 to Football in popularity

:mjlol: these sports ain't going anywhere and even if they fall off like the NHL. It's still viewable somewhere. It's 2016. MLS is viewable somewhere
It matters if you're someone who likes extensive, accessible coverage for your favorite sports. The MLS is still on TV but their coverage is hard to find and they dont have a great TV deal. Football/Baseball/Basketball coverage is everywhere because they're the most popular sports.

Everybody talks down about basketball, but outside of America it's always the top three in every country.

Look at the Europeans ( France, Germany, Italy, Greece, etc) basketball is either 2nd or 3rd.

Look at Africa ( Basketball expanded greatly in Africa) Ambassdors include Mutumbo, Ibaka, Hakkem and Luol Deng. There's a NBA Africa development league.

Look at the Asian countries ( Russia, China, Japan, India) basketball is extremely popular in China, think YAO MING, Who helped the NBA expand in China. He still owns a team in China.

South America, Do I have to explain the Latin Players that has come to America? Gasol brothers, Manu Ginobli, Barbosa, Al Hordord.

Australia ( Kyrie Irving, Ben Simmons, Dante Exum).

The NFL is still trying to expand in London :mjlol:
