Because it has the worst disparity in sports!!!

Why is it so hard to implement a salary cap for MLB so ALL teams can have a chance to acquire talent instead of having some teams rely on farming while others can just throw money at whoever?
Kansas City Royals relied on the farm and they went to the World Series back to back, actually winning this year..

Meanwhile when the Yankees went HAM getting big name FA and they stayed getting eliminated in the first round :mjlol:

Champions league
who cares about a harris poll

he most popular sport in the country was the NFL, followed by 50 percent of those surveyed. Baseball (32 percent), college football (29 percent), NBA (22 percent) and college basketball (19 percent) rounded out the top five.

The NHL was followed by 15 percent of those polled, the PGA Tour was followed by 13 percent, and women's tennis fans (9 percent) outnumbered men's tennis fans (8 percent).

The Harris Poll is a compilation of 2,368 adults in the U.S, along with representative oversamples of Hispanic Americans and Asian Americans.

2,368 people are what we are basing this on

US Population: 318.9 Million

You know they're not walking through the streets of Chiraq, where Basketball is probably #1 and asking "hey what's your favorite sport dudes?"

The Yankees are one of those storied franchises like the Lakers, Celtics, Steelers, etc.

They didn't really start spending big on Free Agents until 02 and they only been to the WS twice since, only winning one of them.

Those Yankee Dynasty team in the late 90s, they had no big name FA and most of the key players was from the Yankee's farm system... Jeter, Petette, etc.

Yankees are more than just a storied franchise though..they are the world's biggest and most recognized sports franchise in the world. A year the Yankees do not at least make the playoffs is considered an "off" year...an outlier.

Typically teams with top 10 payrolls (Dodgers, Yankees, Giants, etc.) are guaranteed to make the playoffs year after year with MAYBE one or two outside of the top 10 making a playoff spot.

And while the farm system has success some teams farm players into top notch pros and once they become FA other teams with higher payrolls can throw money at them while the lower market teams have to rely on continuously farming talent and trading them once they become great just to afford the other lower tier or average players on the roster.

As a Rockies fan baseball sucks because I know we have to strictly rely on farming just to compete with the two top payroll teams in our division alone (Giants, and Dodgers)
