IMMIGRANT TETHERS
Or really I should have put it like this:

Murray's performance in Lost In Translation, is one of the very few times where I've actually felt like I'm watching true life and not someone acting. No canon-characterization, no transformation, no impersonation, no gimmick, no methodical-techniques, no psuedo-pull techniques etc etc. None of that bullshyt.

It was just him.

I just watched this movie again. On second thought. You are right. I shame myself for even listing him. His performance was natural.

Will Smith in Ali

I thought it was okay but I just felt like I was watching Will Smith trying to acting like Ali the whole movie. :manny:

It wasn't close to Jaime Foxx playing Ray

SMH at the mention of Depp.

Are you serious? During the mid 90's and early 2000's he was the best actor on the planet, just because recently he doesn't have much diversity in his roles doesn't make him overrated, it's not as if they're big popcorn flicks either, they're quirky and dark roles, something he obviously likes, so good luck to him.

Look at Deep in Gilbert Grape, Donnie Brasco, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Dead Man, Blow, Pirates of the Caribbean (first 2). He was great in all of them.

There's a reason why Brando, who didn't accept any roles, took a role in Depp's movie, because as he said it, "Deep was the best actor of his generation".

you said anything depp was in, which is clearly wrong.

his performances in 2012 aren't overrated, that's clearly not the problem, the problem is there is no diversity in his roles, it's similar shyt over and over again. even then, the roles he's playing, not many, if any actors can do.

what he needs is a good rest away from tim burton movies. likewise burton with depp.

there's a reason why scorsese stepped away from de niro, and is doing the same with di caprio now.

neither cheadle or whitaker are charismatic enough to pull off what denzel did in that movie. cheadle is a good enough actor, but his acting isn't electric enough to pull of what denzel did as alonzo.

cuba is just a laughable suggestion.

samuel l is charismatic enough, but not as activating and would not be as believable as denzel's portrayal of alonzo.
