Doesnt matter. If the question was most loved nba team in each state...cali as well as nevada...a bunch of those states...would still be the Lakers.

Lakers have the most fans, and the most haters. Sounds pretty accurate.

Its really random the Clippers are the most hated team in MS and TN.

California is vast and diverse, and the divide of southern california with northern california might as well be a different hemisphere. Neither region is particularly fond of the other, with this sort of in state bragging rights rivalry existing between the two. Both feel like they represent california's true spirit over the other. There is a greater northern california population versus southern one so just by pure numbers the lakers are already in the hole. Pretty much any city north of San Luis Obispo is going to be anti-lake show.

In addition, northern california areas already have their squads to root for, one of which, the kings, had a bitter rivalry with the lakers that no sac fan will ever get over in their lifetimes. Further splitting the Lakers popularity has been the ascension of the Clippers, so they cant even lay claim to the greater L.A area, even tho they are obviously the more popular of the two. San Diego doesnt fukk with L.A or the Lakers, so that base is out, and in general the Lakers are similar to the Yankees in that they are very polarizing. You either love them or you hate them. No in between.
