Big L's album is a classic ... like not a Illmatic or Ready to Die

It's literally the perfect album to reflect exactly what it is ... A hot rapper on the come-up, and it is practically generic and cookie cutter enough to be devoid of a signature sonic sound and thus is a reflection of the time it is from more than anything ... You just got a super talented and gifted rapper running the gauntlet on a bunch of generic tracks that sound of the time ... But they're classic

If we should believe rappers with their classifications it’s chance the rapper.

His one and only album was ass following 2 classic mixtapes, and a great collective album.

But what’s the difference between w mixtape and an album when both have the same type of marketing, budget, hit songs, quality etc.

Lowkey Jada debut was a let down. Not a bad album by any means. Just not the album worthy of being the contender for being the top guy

Nature & Sauce Money

Nature album was ass

Sauce money was just ok

For All Seasons? That album was good to me, just old songs that had gotten leaked and bad release timing.

Canibus by far, it just wasn’t executive produced or a&r right. Album wasn’t terrible but they missed the mark easily.

The Firm wasn’t bad either a few songs saved it, still should have been a classic. Direction wasn’t good on there either.

Not listed, but Tical, although dope, was a major disappointment. My hopes were for some 36 chambers level ish, the hype was huge, but something was just off. There are some bangers on there, but overall it's a 4 mic (or even 3.5 mic) album, to me. The lofi production was just off, especially compared to what came before, and what came the following year. Eventually, I learned the OG Tical was lost in the flood, and Def Jam was rushing the release, and it makes sense that it wasn't as good as the other solos. Out of the releases from 36 - Forever, it's easily in last place.

For me...

Turk's "Young and Thuggin"

Back then as a Cash Money STAN, After a couple of years of waiting on Turk to drop something, This shyt floored me with how mid it was. The stan in me couldnt even justify this shyt, It didnt help that HotBoys as a group was pretty much dissolved by the time this dropped. Shiiet Juve was leaving, BG wasnt around as much. Hell I dont even think there's much of a hotboy presence on this album outside of a couple Wayne verses and Mannie shyt talking
Yeah that album was mehhhh
