They tryna do too much, Ernie.

MK movie would work best as an ensemble piece. First 45 min to an hour would be spent introducing and developing the 7 main fighters and why they’re all entering into the tournament... then from there once the tournament starts the stories all become intertwined. Some survive, some don’t.

No need for a gritty reimagining. It should closely resemble the look and feel of the OG game... the cheesier the better. If you’re not gonna appeal to nostalgia then why even adapt this franchise. This isn’t Scorsese, it’s a movie based on a video game about a mystical fighting tournament.

Zero chance the movie I described would make LESS than whatever bullshyt they are going to try and pass off using this license.

At least they're trying to do something different.
I can deal with different.

Like, I could roll with Raiden being a teenager. He’s an immortal God so he could simply be taking the form of a youth even if he is centuries old. No problem with that. I could even see making Sonya a writer and reimagining Kano.

But having some generic character named Cole Turner and his family as the main characters? With a little sassy wise cracking kid to boot?

Hell naw.

They are probably saving Scorpion and Sub Zero for either a cameo or a surprise but creating a generic character as the lead with a little kid is a non-starter. That’s just a horrible idea that should have died in development hell, if only because it’s almost guaranteed to flop with fans...the base you are supposed to excite with a reboot.

Not sure how this got the green light but then again, WB.

I'm just getting flashbacks to the SW prequels and how they're viewed as revolutionary around here now and constantly praised for trying something different :yeshrug:

This was different too:usure:
So many ways to reboot a franchise but this shyt ain’t one of them..
They literally have a blueprint from MK10 with the kids..
Jackie;Cassie and Takeda like someone mentioned..
Changing all the characters back stories:skip:
They are literally introducing an “Alice” type character no one gives a fukk about:skip:
MK legacy showed muthafukkas how to do a reboot that was different but still gave fans what they wanted:banderas:

Cole Turner And His Family

COLE TURNER
Lead Male. 30s. A brand new character to the MK franchise. Cole is a struggling and widowed boxer who cares more about his young daughter than anything. He is incredibly determined and refuses to quit in the face of fantastical adversity.

EMILY
Female. 12. Cole's scrappy, determined, and wise-beyond-her-years daughter.

SOPHIA
Female. 60s. Cole’s understanding, discerning mother-in-law who houses Emily and is her primary guardian.

JESS
Female. 30-35. Cole’s judgemental sister-in-law, who believes Cole to be a selfish, bad father. She lives with Sophia and Emily.
Kano, Sonya, And Raiden

So. I'm calling it. It's gonna be garbage. :camby:
