MK12 Story will be interesting. If they go 100% with Liu Kang's ending, most characters won't be returning. It completely wipes out Jax, Jacqui, Johnny Cage, Cassie, Sonya, Sub Zero, Noob Saibot, and Scorpion. Kitana, Sindel, Shao Kahn, Shinnok, Raiden, Fujin, Reiko (he was a general for Shinnok), Tanya (Edenians are like 10,000 years old or older), Rain, Taven, Daegon, Onaga, Shang Tsung, Quan Chi, Geras, Kronika and possibly Jade are the only characters that would be returning due to their age and some of them being "immortal", deities, or Edenian.

This is why a think the next installment will incorporate both endings. There's also the fact that we don't see what happened to Jax (both younger and older), Jacqui, Sub Zero, Scorpion, Noob Saibot and Erron Black. Kitana was escorted away as were the younger Johnny Cage, Cassie, and younger Sonya. We don't see the older Johnny Cage in Aftermath.
