how many horror movie characters does WB own?
I made a horror fighting game roster for fun. In my research:

Beetlejuice, Freddy, Pennywise, any Conjuring ghost, the Exorcist demon, the Martians from Mars Attacks and Gremlins and a bunch of others

All the classic ninja characters cant be important just because their fan favorites. The story hasn't nor never was about them. Scorpion and Sub-Zero are the most popular and important ninjas and their story is a sub-plot.

They've made them all important to some degree, but put them on the back burner. For example, Rain was a mere general for Shao Kahn, but they've made him a demigod. If I'm not mistaken, he's brother to Taven and Daegon.

There's Ermac and if his Mortal Kombat 9 ending is canon, one of the souls within him is Jerrod's.

Smoke is kind of minor now. He's one of the ninjas they never developed, even though his ending in MK9 was cool and explained his origin. Still, he was killed off in that game and made a revenant in the last. Then they made him a cyborg again as a part of Triborg. Tremor was DLC, but he was interesting.

Reiko- he was sort of a ninja, but he never really developed into anything either

I'm interested in seeing how the new character near the hour glass plays into the story/game. Will she be playable? They did this with Armageddon and released artwork and had Delia (mother of Taven and Daegon) be a part of the story, but wasn't playable. Jade had that crazy MK9 ending where they revealed Jade was actually possessed by a warrior spirit who had watched the events of MK unfold from the beginning. Some speculated that the warrior spirit was actually Delia.

If they want MK 11 to be successful then they need to follow the MK9 blueprint. No one will care about guest characters if the roster is solid, and the truth is that the MKX roster was basic as fukk. That means all the OGs need to be brought back to the game, and just like MK9 we need classic stages and costumes. The timeline storyline leads me to believe that's how they restore all of the revenants...keep Stryker though.

The way the story is set up, it should stay that way for now. If anything Raiden has been the main character, and it makes sense.

The alternate timeline means we'll probably get most of the legacy characters.

This

And it might be possible since it seems like a time travel/alternate universe story.

I was disappointed that made Sub-Zero vs cyber ninjas 0ff screen and fast forward 20+ and made the OG class old.

Also making the less interesting new characters first and center of the story.

IMO, MK9 was really the best MK since maybe UMK 3. That's not saying much though. I like how everybody was brought back and a lot of those characters had their best showing in MK9.

I liked Kung Lao, Kenshi, Scorpion, and Sub Zero's designs from MKX better though.

Trilogy was the best one until MK9 came out, but since MK9 is basically trilogy then I guess it's still the king:yeshrug:
