If it takes place in the past it would be dope to see Erron Black before he became immortal.

Nah that was just an assumption by fans based on the aftermath ending. Honestly NRS spoiled their fans and doesn’t have the talent story wise these days to do a period piece MK.

You’re basically removing 25% of the roster who uses tech, fan favorites (Mileena fans) are gone who were created during the current timeline, a lot of their memes/ humor won’t translate to that period. Plus you know the ending to at least 20 tournaments, Kung Lao, Shang Tsung, and Goro win, so what’s the narrative payoff.
