However, Ashrah, Nitara, Havik and Li Mei all these are PS2 era experimental characters that did not make fans go crazy. Never picked em up, besides Darrius because those a$$holes removed Jax from Deception. Shujinko sucks too but I get it, they had entire mini game with him as main character.

That's not true. First three were classic games. If you had movies made out of your game back then, you were legit. MK4 was a let down with bad graphics and PS2 era MK wasn't anything groundbreaking. Deception was a very enjoyable game with sub-par roster and Shaolin Monks was a great addition to the franchise.

However, you pick MK Deception and Tekken 5, which were released around the same time, and you can tell one of these games is just better.

Kung Lao references Jen. If you ever watched MK Conquest, the television series from the 90's, Jen was the love of the Great Kung Lao's life. She was killed. So the story of this game really will have some call backs to that series.
