Above the fray.
2000 Marching Wolverine! Still got my uniform.
The Morris Brown Alumni are the real MVPs. This article is the first time I've read about how much time, energy, and resources they devoted to keep the school afloat. Outstanding !
Wolverines don't back down from any challenges, so that's an appropriate mascot for the school.

I used to live down the street from Morris Brown. I know its in a historic location but they gotta move it from being so close to the hood if they want to grow it.

I feel ya but I think its holding them back. I still be on go mode when I stop by that Walmart right there or at that one Texaco where they done built that new Zaxbys. It used to be a nikka living in the parking lot that'll get your tires looking right though. I used to pay that nikka like $40.

Can't imagine how college kids who aint never been to the hood feel.

Gotcha that’s good to know.

Ive been thinking they no longer existed for years.

I don’t think they’ve had more than 50 students a semester since they lost accreditation, and some of their buildings on campus need major renovations.

if I remember correctly, there was a short period in time where professors there were there on a voluntary basis.

it’s a real sad situation but the new president they have is amazing and has been making good moves for a while.

I hate the fact that schools can lose accreditation because school leaders are smiley & the students didn’t do a damn thing to deserve that...they should just punish those responsible instead of destroying a fabric of the culture of Atlanta and HBCUs nationwide.

The same thing happened to the school district I graduated from in metro Atlanta...some school board members did some shady paper work, so the whole damn public school system lost accreditation for a year. I don’t think that has happened more than 5 times in America & we were one of them :snoop:

Wow I legit had no idea.

That’s awesome that they was able to hold on through all that?

Do you know if Bezos’s ex gave them a donation too?

Nah I don’t think so..they depend on alumni to donate. A few years ago when Kanye visited a mega black church in Atlanta he gave them a lot of money, but the church ended up giving his donation to Morris Brown.

they missing out on so much money though with their football stadium being in disarray. If they fix it up they could charge Atlanta Public Schools to have games there or they can host various battle of the band competitions.

their stadium is huge compared to Morehouse & Clark Atlanta. Morehouse & CAU have 1 sided stadiums, but Morris Brown’s stadium is a decent size and has two sides on it.

yea GSU stadium holds more folks..but I still believe Herndon Stadium would be better.

The only high schools close to GSU stadium is probably Carver & Grady, and Grady has their own stadium.

Herndon Stadium is just minutes away from Washington & Doug. They can use Herndon instead of Lakewood or Grady Stadium.

Herndon was still open when I was in high school, and we played Washington on their homecoming & they had it at Herndon. That shyt was sold out and had standing room only
