This is the nature of sports. People are slow to try shyt and lean on what they know/what has been proven. Once it is proven, they are copycats. The name of the game is to win...not to be different just because or preserve some shyt that doesn't work anymore. And I say this as a person that remains against the 3pt revolution. Thats mostly becuase of what led to it and the fact that it wasnt organic.Teams are just chasing the math.
3 points is worth more than 2.
If you can make the 3s at a high enough percentage, it's the better shot to take.
If you move the 3 point line back or eliminated it entirely, the math would change and strategy would adjust.
You could say "well the 3 was around in the 1980s and they didnt shoot them".
Yeah. Well, it took a while for teams to recognize its true value.
If I was the commish I would eliminate the 3 during the regular season or pre-all star all-break. The need to incentivize different play styles.
